The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread

Livi have went from in superb form to terrible form very quickly. Now lost four of their last five and that fifth spot and Europe is well within our reach.

If we take 1 point and St Johnstone take 6 then it would go to goal difference. At the minute we're on -5 and St Johnstone -8. So not insurmountable for them.

Yep. If they win 2 and we lose 1 then we are, at best, level on GD and almost certainly they will have scored more. Shame they got the late equaliser as we may need to win the last game at Hamilton, but it is entirely in our own hands now even if, as expected, we lose on Saturday.

Remaining fixtures...

Saints - Rangers A, Hamilton A

DU - Celtic H, Aberdeen H

Saintees - Hibs H, Ross Co. H

My nightmare scenario is the Fakes winning their two games leaving us with the formality/banana skin of needing to beat Accies in game 33!

St Johnstone won't win on Saturday- another draw at best.

Thankfully Hibs still have everything to play for going for 3rd place.

StJohnstone's last minute goal could prove to be vital but at the start of the season if we were offered the scenario of beating Hamilton on the last game before the split to give us a good chance of finishing in the top 6 we'd have taken it, along with the drugs Fitzy has been on [emoji23].

A lot of stress going on here.

I'm not getting it. This is in no way angst inducing for me. Maybe it's because for a change, we're not looking over our shoulder for other teams to do us a favour. Maybe it's because the idea of potentially missing top six isn't anywhere near as troubling as finishing in the bottom two places.

Either way, we're going to finish anywhere between 5th and 8th this season. Even in the worst case scenario, we've made progress.

Yeah. "Challenging for top six" was at the very upper end of my expectations for this season, especially at the end of September. Achieving it would be great, but I'm not going to stress about missing out. For the record, I think we'll manage it.

Dundee Utd are imo out of it due to who they play.

Although both teams playing fairly well at the mo, us and the perth tories might well nullify each other so I think a draw is likely on Saturday.

That was long winded but I pretty much concur with your assessment.
