I watched the whole game on Sunday Rick . We can posses the ball fine but going forward we looked devoid of any ideas in that game. Mcalister out wide is not working he should be brought in more central.  Was it just me McAllister displeased at being subbed  ?  Reading "not the old firm " goodwin saying he is talking to three players in Southern Ireland. Rough diamonds was Goodwin's description.

Goodwin said that McAllister was playing behind the strikers in the hole on Saturday...so if he was out wide it was maybe why he was subbed!

Seen in the hole twice once when subbed he was more middle.  Most of what I seen looked wide.

JG seems a tad obsessive about playing wingers or to be more accurate playing men wide. It is doubly hurting us as it leaves us over run in the middle of the park and that in turn means very little supply to said wide men who therefore provide nothing for the strikers. One look at the starting lineup on Saturday and you knew we would lose the midfield battle. The rest of the shitshow was somewhat forced upon us by injuries. Looks like he needs to play Baird as Foley is too big a loss from the midfield. Going forward needs to sign another CB as Baird ain't going to feature longer term unless he gets a chance and has a blinder v Hibs. Strikers feeding on absolute scraps for the reasons stated so some of their criticism is OTT imo. Need a fit Flynn and Magennis to help out Foley. McAllister is never going to win the battles either of them would.

Spot on. Need 4 midfielders and not 2 midfielders and 2 wingers. Need solidity in the middle of the park just now. Defence will be ok and if we can get the strikeforce working we will be fine.

Yip needs to set up far more solid in the middle and try playing thru midfield. I suspect he feels we don't have the personnel available right now to play this way hence the width in the formations but McAllister would be so much better with two holding and two attacking with a narrower approach. Could play 2 up that way or 1 with 1 behind to match up if need be. Sounds simple but it appears to me Goody doesn't see the creativity in the midfielders available.

Back 4 then Foley and Cammy holding with McAllister and probably Durmus trying to create for Obika and the new striker at least until Flynn and Magennis are fit.

They beat a Premiership academy team - that must give them hope against Arbroath.

St Mirren: Lyness, Tait, Shuaghnessy, Sheron, McAllister, Durmus, MacPherson, McGrath, Dennis, Connolly, Erhahon. Subs: Alnwick, Henderson, Jamieson, Offord, Jack, Breadner.

That's pretty much a full strength squad.

It is a stronger team than the St Mirren DJ on twitter implied. Said there were 8 Academy players involved however most are on the bench.
