Having been involved in 3 of the 4 seasons play offs I can tell you it exhausts you as a supporter so I can't imagine what it does to players. That ignores the fact that the Premiership team will also be working flat-out to either avoid the play-off, or get into it to avoid automatic relegation.

Hamilton played 38 games over the regular season; United played 36 + 4 play-off legs = 40. What they actually said on the radio was that they'd only played one more game during May. It's the argument about "so many games in such a short space of time" thing. Accies played 6 games, United played 7. It's actually only one game of difference. Accies: 6th May vs ICT (a) 13th May vs Motherwell (h) 16th May vs County (a) 20th May vs Dundee (h) 25th May vs Utd (a) 28th May vs Utd (h) United: 6th May vs Morton (h) 9th May vs Morton (a) 12th May vs Morton (h) 16th May vs Falkirk (h) 19th May vs Falkirk (a) 25th May vs Accies (h) 28th May vs Accies (a) Edited May 29, 2017 by capt_oats

I get that but if you take Kilmarnock against us. They were 11th with 2 games to go. No one can deny they are set up to favour the Premiership team. It is no coincidence that the Premiership team has won 3 out of 4. Only the biggest hibsing it of all time stopped 4 out of 4.

I am not going to bleat about how the league needs the bigger teams in it, we heard enough of that during the rangers demotion era. It's no good just turning out for the bigger games , we need to be trying to get around 8000 at home games due to the bad finances at every game Hamilton will aim for 2nd bottom again next year and good luck to them if they get it.
bairney
You well fkd that up arabs, didn't you? Was it fighting amongst the players or the players and their own fans? as I missed the carnage. See you next season (maybe) p.s. tree house tam
Lets be honest here, if you can't beat that Hamilton team in a play off final, you don't deserve to be anywhere near the Premiership. All this pish about favouring the Premiership team? Baws. The Championship teams are not good enough.

Only in a very, very marginal way, viz., having home advantage in the second leg of the final. Circumstances can increase the Premiership advantage, but that's not the "set up"; that's a result of the team finishing 3rd or 4th beating the odds to win through to the final.

bairney
The play-offs are rigged to aid the Premiership team. Scottish football really has to look at the English model. Today we have Huddersfield v Reading in a winner takes all one-off final with definite relegation for 3 prem teams. That is how it should be in a proper competitive league system. Self-preservation makes Scottish football a joke. Two down and one up with a one game play-off final from 2nd and 3rd in the championship. (Ideally two up, two down as in the eighties and before, but Scottish football is a Self-preservation joke)

The Master
You wouldn't know from reading this thread that Falkirk have been roundly dismissed from all four sets of play-offs since they were introduced.

It's probably worth noting at this point how Falkirk - self-styled defenders of sporting integrity and the Corinthian spirit of the game - didn't push for any sort of play-off system to place the 11th placed side in jeopardy, back when they were stinking out the top tier of Scottish football.
