I think there used to be be a Rosyth ferry route that died of (I think) lack of viability
There’s also more recently various people on the Western Islands who’d say SG didn’t have a clue how to run CalMac
Best of luck!
Rosyth "died" because it was faster for freight of perishable goods to travel from Scotland to Dover, and use the Channel tunnel.
Don't think that'll be an issue now.
Newcastle is still viable for passenger travel, no reason why Rosyth couldn't be.

Scottish Neoliberal Party strikes again.

So to be clear, this isn't about asking PwC to run the NCS, it's PwC being tasked to help design the project that will set up the NCS. Presumably you would have preferred that the Civil Service be 100% responsible for that?

Aye I would prefer it was done by the public sector rather than PwC setting up something which will end up like NHS commissioning in England.

Why do we have governments if thats not the sort of role they are doing

Private sector pays better to aquire that talent and expertise out of the Civil Service, then has the government of the day buy back the advice it should be getting at three times the cost.

ffs how can a blood sucking leech of a consulting firm like PWC win that?

Something is wrong in any country if that sort of design and plan goes to a consultant

They're the only ones that bid.

Basically we’re going to end up with the same shite that is currently delivered across the UK but, to get there, several hundred thousand of our tax paid pounds will be trousered by a firm of global tax-planning consultants to present it in a tartan clad Scotch friendly shortbread tin to suit the current incumbents.

Be careful what you wish for…

The contract is for £100,000. Presumably that is for one PWC consultant and maybe a secretary thrown in. It can only be an initial study of the options, actually developing a practical new National Care Service would probably need an entire department.

Surely im not the only one that thinks our FM should be calling this out. Instead of Swinney saying there is nothing we can do, how about a First minister that says this is what we are going to do.

And sticking to it.

Good luck with that from a current leadership who have yet to prove themselves anything other than careerist devolutionists.

They appear to be the latest "parcel o rogues".

For the sake of Scotland people wake up.  Your Scotland is being assimilated into a greater England before your eyes and you do nothing.

I’m sure there are plenty of Scots who couldn’t be more delighted at that prospect. They’re the problem - not England. Historically, you can never blame the English for having a country on their doorstep with enough residents willing to sell it down the river.
