Congratulations to Sturgeon and Swinney sending £500k to help schools in India.  It must be gratifying to many parents, and especially those of the girl that was tradically killed when a school wall fell on her, that our schools are in such pristine condition that we can afford to send money abroad.

Wasn't that a PFI Labour school built with cheap materials? It's another stain on our media that Scottish Labour got away so lightly with that one.

It’s certainly gratifying to me that we can look beyond our own borders and help those significantly less fortunate than we are.

You might be right actually. Was it not on the back of that that a raft of more modern school walls in Edinburgh were declared not fit for purpose ?

I think you're talking about  a separate incident where a wall finish collapsed at Oxgangs PS. It turned out a contractor had completed the work without using pins that held up the render. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. It did spark an unholy scramble to make sure none of the other schools that had been constructed by the same contractor were not also similarly shoddy-built. Shocking really. Imagine bairns had been playing there at the time.

The civic nationalism that they (we) embrace is a reflection of the values of Scots.  I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

The foreign aid policy was spelled out in all party manifestos

SNP - Keep UK aid spending at 0.7% of national income

Conservatives - Maintain foreign aid budget, with new rules on how to spend it.

Labour - Maintain foreign aid budget, meet our international obligations on the refugee crisis.

Liberal Democrat - Support NATO, maintain foreign aid budget.

Ukip - Slash foreign aid budget to 0.2% of GDP.

Green Party - Increase the foreign aid budget from 0.7% of GDP to 1.0%.

Apparently, only the racist fruitloops want to reduce it
