Whatever happens on Saturday, I hope it's a game played in a friendly atmosphere and a good spirit, in blazing sunshine and is a great advert for Scottish football.

And Aberdeen win 3-0.

'mon the Dons.

It would benefit Celtic to lose this final.  They've done enough already this season, and Brenda can still have a big goal to aim for domestically next time round if the treble eludes him this season.

Perfect symmetry if the season starts and ends with defeats courtesy of those Imps and Dandies......

f**k that. its not a proper Scottish cup final unless there is a bloodbath on the pitch and pure and utter bile from the stands.

Wish I was in Aberdeen this week, the city looks bouncing, similar to how it was before the 2014 LC Final.

Complete standstill after closing the section between Market & Bridge Street you mean?

Looking forward to watching it in Aberdeen though*. Been to both their league cup finals recently and despite having enough points to get a ticket for this (midweek matches evidently add up, particularly European ties), I just cannot be arsed with Glasgow / Hampden this time around.

*Fancy McNasties seeing as there's more HD tv than wall in there now!

Yeah I'm a bit surprised by that. Is this really the right response? Ban anything that involves a gathering of people?

It's just about police resources. It does feel a bit OTT but clearly a natural consequence of the threat level being moved up to super-critical.

We can't really be surprised that they've requested that we please don't hold a massive, basically unplanned party in either the middle of Glasgow or Aberdeen (it wouldn't have been in Glasgow obviously but for appearances sake ;) ) while this is going on.

A shame.

Totally understand, resources needed to be allocated to more important things than a team celebrating a cup win.

Council will be relieved as it avoids coverage of Union Street's empty retail space.

Graeme Shinnie to hire a convertible and take the cup round the boulevard instead.

Following this week's tragic events in Manchester, and after detailed discussion with Police Scotland, Aberdeen Football Club has confirmed that, in the event of an Aberdeen victory, there will be no victory parade in the city on Sunday.

Obviously with complete respect to Celtic Football Club, we would not wish to pre-judge the outcome of the Scottish Cup final in any way. However, it is crucial that supporters are fully aware of all organisational arrangements which may affect them.

In the event of Aberdeen being fortunate enough to win the Scottish Cup, the club would like to confirm that there will be no open top bus parade on Sunday and, given the situation and the pressure on police and security resources, we know our supporters will fully understand these measures which have been taken.

FOLLOWING the recent tragic events in Manchester, and further to liaison and discussion with Police Scotland, Celtic Football Club today outlined some important safety announcements in advance of this weekend’s matches.

In the event of Celtic being fortunate enough to win the Scottish Cup, the club would like to confirm that the team would not be able to ‘present’ the trophy to supporters back at Celtic Park and there would be no supporters’ event there."

Reeks of Police Scotland getting both clubs telt with a PR template.

Well, either that or somebody at Aberdeen thought "decent enough like" and made quick use of the copy/paste and thesaurus functions after an hour of writer's block, thinking nobody would notice.

All-conquering Celtic going for the treble. Step forward Aberdeen. We've been here before lads. We'll go there again.

As an aside, over 108,000 at that match, fucking unbelievable. There really must have been nothing else to do in the past.

There was a bigger crowd at the 1967 final - but we won't mention the score.
