New clubs in the East of Scotland

Could the good people of Tayport dig a moat along the golf course and along a line of latitude just south of Newport-on-Tay and claim to be Tayport island and part of Tayside as opposed to Fife.

Yes. Yes they could and if they aren't going to put the effort in to do so they can remain in the EoSFL with the rest of Fife where they belong.

Just laziness if ye ask me.

Except they aren't in the EoSFL. At this point it's entirely possible they will be founding members of a new Midland Football League.

In which case if the EoSFL and WoSFL were willing to allow existing members to to be unaffected by their boundary decision, chances are the same would apply between any boundary between the MFL and EoSFL.

It's not rocket science really. If Midland league is going north tayport can decide. Although i think tayside and north should merge in that case. If they are coming south then realistically should be looking to move perth clubs to their and north fife clubs like st Andrews and newburgh

It is very important that the EOSFL (and LL) establish their position on their northern administrative boundary of their league at the outset of discussions. Failure to do so will create uncertainty and unnecessary administrative problems for the future such as as the possible "leaching out" of Perth clubs and northern Fife clubs. It is not rocket science to determine and endorse the administrative limits of one's league.

The fact that the EOSFL is now a strong and influential organisation should place them in the prime position to get this matter quickly sorted out. If the existing Tay bridge coordinates are suspect now is clearly the time to address the matter. If they are considered workable then approve them.

As you yourself offered.

“The EOSFL and authorities acting on behalf of the ML have agreed a boundary for new member applications which is based upon local authority areas. Clubs in the Fife, Perth & Kinross (south of the Luncarty line) Council areas will be directed to apply to the EOSFL. Clubs in the Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross (north of the Luncarty line) Council areas will be directed to apply to the ML.”

Then repeat the second paragraph of the EOSFL/ WOSFL joint statement.

This in my view would provide clarity that is currently lacking. Coordinates should be provided for the “Luncarty line” as appropriate.

The Second Paragraph being

"These local authority boundaries will not affect any club already in membership of either League. Once a Club is admitted to a League, any application to switch Leagues will not be entertained except with the prior approval of both Leagues."

Since it's entirely possible for Tayport and even Scone for that matter to choose to be founding members of a Midland League or continue to be members of the rebranded ERSJFA then the second paragraph applies to them remaining where they are.

That is why it is so important to establish the respective boundaries of the EOSFL / ML at the very outset of discussions before the ML starts encroaching upon EOSFL territory.

Well not long for applications now, West Lothian clubs Stoneyburn, Armadale and Harthill have been quiet on where they will be next season since border was put up. Harthill I think will be west, Armadale and Stoneyburn are waiting on deadline day I think.

Armadale submitted their application last week, Stoneyburn only one yet to do so.

It seems highly likely that Forfar West End will not enter the league after all if the Midland League gets off the ground.

That can be said of Scone & Tayport as well as both seem to prefer to stay with Tayside.

So am I, I really hope this comes off the ground. At least then we can start working towards licensing & hopefully promotion to tier 5 afterwards at Lochee United. :)

Initial rumblings are very underwhelming. Remain as Juniors, remain governed by the same administration, no link up with NRSJFA, no link up with NCL, playing the same teams, win the league no promotion(unless licensed) finish bottom no relegation. Where is the difference for the Tayside clubs?

Definitely a bit odd that the east region blazers are suddenly being viewed as the best people to carry things forward by many on here after all the misinformation about the pyramid emanating from that source in earlier seasons. Forfar West End are trying to do what Kelty Hearts did and should be commended for that, because it's not at all clear that a rebranded east region is heading anywhere concrete in pyramid terms any time soon.

Told Forfar West End are determined to see their application to the East of Scotland league through. Maybe tells you that not all clubs are so certain that the East Region administration are the organisation to take things forward! Agree that they deserve to be commended. Hope some of their fellow Tayside clubs have joined them.

None of that is exactly surprising. It's probably what most people expect from a Midland League, especially one that goes North.

There's no SCC equivalent anymore, so remaining Junior allows clubs to have a major inter-league trophy to compete in. The idea of all Tier 6 leagues falling under the SFA's JPP was something really only pursed by the EoSFL & LL. Until the SFA compromised they were happy to only oversee the LL Play-off.

The difference ultimately comes from Licencing and time.
