New clubs in the East of Scotland

According to their Facebook page, Glenrothes Strollers AFC have submitted an application to join the East of Scotland League for next season.

Current members of the Kingdom of Fife (Amateur) League, the Strollers own their own ground at Overstenton Park, and their  club  photos show that they have an excellent pavilion built in 2016. The Strollers are an "SFA Legacy Club", with boy and girl youth teams, and the club's adult team should meet the EoS entry criteria.

The amateur team folded around 6 weeks ago. It’s a new team that the strollers are trying to form to play in eosl.

Thanks for the info.

Why did they fold ? Have they 'merged' or affiliated, with Glenrothes Juniors  who have applied to join the EoS ??

Robert, there's two Glenrothes teams that have applied, Juniors and Stollers.

The amateur team folded a believe because they were struggling for numbers.  A lot of there players and committee were leaving end of season anyway to join another amateur team who were starting up for next season again Strathmiglo who also folded earlier in season.

No link as far as I am aware with Glenrothes Juniors and the strollers apart from a think the Glens new youth set up was taking a couple of older teams from strollers.

Strollers announcing this new adult team strikes me as an attempt to keep there older teams.

Never visited Glenrothes, but from the internet photos, both seem to have good grounds/facilities.  Are they - I assume you've been to both ?

Been to Warout Stadium several times, good facilities in the stand, it's a big open venue.  Never been to Strollers, no reason to really but they seem to have put a lot of work into the new pavilion, just need to get the rest of the ground upto standard.

I was told this morning that some of the Strollers were going to the juniors so this application by the strollers may be a survival bid.

They probably would have been better merging. Strollers handle the youth and the Juniors becoming the senior club

Pretty much why Syngenta put their application in as well, they had no path way and with the real Clubs around them moving to 20s they jumped onboard, Little Kerse and its suitability for EOS will come to light over the next couple of weeks.

From what I hear coming from the Syngenta camp and they have appointed a 1st team and 20s manager to run it, so it certainly appears they have or will.

You may be right. There are doubt over warout's long term future(dry ski slope) so developing overstenton park would make sense.

However as long as the strollers have a plan and aren't going to fold in a couple of years then welcome on board.

Presumably they have or are still planning to given they're advertising "a full club pathway to the senior game" on FB.

Not that I've heard of but this time last year we couldn't have predicted what was going to happen so who knows.
