Polling: 2017 General Election, Council Elections and Independence

Recommended Posts

Whatever character H_B is pretending to be today doesn’t realise that all that is left of Slab now is bitter Union at all costs SNP hating ‘lefties’. Not quite left enough though to stop them calling for their supporters to vote Tory in certain areas of Scotland due to their astounding levels of seethe towards the SNP.

Anybody who thought Labour could win in Gordon or Berwickshire would probably struggle to put a tick in a box.

As i've said before the attempt to blame the failing of the SNP in the 2017 election on a Dugdale interview on Sky probably watched by a few thousand people in Scotland all of whom would have been decided voters is a massive deflection.

I believe a fair number of Scots read newspapers, watch other channels and social media as well.

Hmm yes.... the "failing"....

More seats than the other 4 parties combined. Despite them all campaigning on an "anti-independence" platform, while the SNP campaigned on a multitude of complex policies.

No doubt when they get 40+ seats at the next GE, you'll be calling that another "failure".

Sure hope we continue to "fail".

It was still a good result but it was still worse than 2015.

Were there not a lot of SNP supporters who felt they ran a lacklustre campaign and didn't talk about enough about independence?

Well the SNP figured that they would give the electorate a rest for a while,  so went back to campaigning on proper policy only..... while of course, the tories kept bashing on about independence.

If there's one thing we can take from all of this, it's that the party who mentions independence the most times, seems to grow their support.

Well they will either need to go all in for another referendum soon or people are going to get fed up that their desire for independence is being used to prop up Third Way managerialism of Tory austerity.

Oh, well they are going for it. There's just the small issue of the UK Government ignoring the mandate of the Scottish Government by effectively telling the Scottish people that manifestos in Scotland don't matter, because Westminster will decide what is in Scotlands best interests.

I wonder how that is going to go down during an election campaign.

Lots of people on the left want to leave the EU.

If they don’t also want to leave the UK then their case is pretty shaky. I presume those leftists are also fanatical nationalists, whether British or Scottish flavoured - probably even more fanatical than the right wing Brexiteers: after all, they’d have to be pretty deluded if not insane to think that Brexit is going to lead to a Corbyn-led socialist state.

Polling still moving towards independence rather than Brexit. More if May's deal is accepted.

Real pro-Indy figures are probably higher if you count 16 - 18 year olds and EU citizens here who I believe are rarely included in these polls.

It's decision time for Scotland.

Well, it's probably no as there's no way they'll let us have a second referendum and I doubt many folk will give a shit - you'll get co-workers on either side who will play football, golf, or even just drink together but nothing will happen. And that's probably a good thing, like f**k we want to be TFS/north of Ireland.

We just don't give a f**k , or we are to timid/feart to realise how shite leaving the EU will be but too scared to vote ; or a BritNat.

And what tops it off is Mick from Barnsley or Retiree in Wales/Scotland who thinks Britain is the leading light. Go on, take a wee walk outside your back door and look around , what a fucking midden, I bet it is. And its all successive UK governments to blame.

We are a backwater. Still, if there's any benefits of this ''deal'' is that rather than Bogdan or Piotr that its Mohamed and Alexa i(they won't know where he's from - he could be Russian/Serb/Buglarian ; but he'll be dark enough to scare them) breed like fcuk.

If May’s deal gets passed the impact of removing freedom of movement will be felt in Scotland as soon as the transition period is over.  Probably before as EU nationals feel unwelcome.

It has already happened to a degree but the problem will be exacerbated.  The economy will be hit hard.
