The smoking ban was the only thing that was in any way controversial pre SNP, (there was the McLeish affair and a c**t set fire to some curtains in a hotel but generally the public wern't much arsed about the goings on) , we were the first in the uk to get it and there was a feeling that since labour had control north and south that we were being used as the guinea pigs.

There was the complete cluster f**k they made of building the Scottish Parliament building, that was pretty controversial.

Third is Alex Cole Hamilton.
The most priggish woman is Fiona Hyslop.

Second best thing to come out of Irvine.

The best thing to come out of Irvine is the A737.

Nonsense, it was the magnum centre

Why did you have to say that? I still miss the Magnum Centre. The Time Capsule is the closest we have but it's not the same. I loved the bizarre entry onto the second floor, the Olympia in Dundee had that too. Great places.

Guest Bob Mahelp

I don't think these polling figures are any real surprise. The SNP are apparently holding on to their core vote, but the events of the last few months have ensured that it's very difficult for them to get any momentum behind them.

I've never believed that there would be an SNP majority, and tbh I think that the polling is probably underestimating the number of previous SNP voters that simply won't vote at all.

I'll be very surprised if the SNP get the 63 seats that this polling is predicting.

Looking at that second poll, where are the list votes going as every party is down on its percentage

Aye, two polls showing two very different pictures.

One strange thing about the Yougov poll is that I never received an email link to it. I am on their site and have been getting regular emails about other shite. (What telly/streaming site I watched last night)

Wouldn't be because they know I'm an independence supporter would it?

Was just thinking, it's been a long time since the last poll and then along come two at once.

Aye, on both polls the list votes are all more down than up. Is there a sudden increase in interest for diddy parties?

No, it's because they have tens of thousands of people on their panel and they only ask about 1,000 for each voter intention poll. I'm on YouGov too and I get a voter intention poll less than once a year.

The reason you get all those other questions is because that's where pollsters make their money. Political polls are only a tiny part of their business, because what they really are is market research companies that do a bit of opinion polling on the side. They don't make any real money from these, but they give them a high profile.

Why would YouGov want to get wrong polling data?
