It's not embarrassing just because Aberdeen lost, it's the fact that only one Scottish club remain in Europe and even they might not last much longer.

Scotland's league and coefficient is quite far down the rankings. It's not surprising or embarrassing that only celtic and their far superior financial resources are our only club left.

Disappointing? Yes
Frustrating? Yes
Embarrassing? No

Listened to the radio commentary. Sounded like Aberdeen made a decent effort 2nd half but you never got the feeling they were going to score.

Down side of the radio commentary was Paul Hartley`s endless use of the term "have went" plus both Hartley and the commentator going on about "Johnny Foreigner" going down easily and wasting time.

I'm disappointed for Aberdeen fans that their team didn't play well but this is not exactly some great upset, Cypriot teams are just as good, if not better than most Scottish teams so this was really a fairly evenly matched tie going in. Aberdeen desperately needs consistent scoring though, Stockley and Maynard won't cut it for you guys this year

Maybe a not-so-interesting aside but the day after the first leg a bunch of Austria Wien "fans" decided to take in the game between Zbrojovka Brno and Baník Ostrava; and, well, decided to get more than just a scarf as a souvenir (guys in purple):

Nonsense stuff, lost 3-1 as well.

This post of yours now looks almost prescient

That's par for the course for a middling association like Scotland - nothing "embarrassing" about that at all.

Scottish clubs need to improve their scouting and transfer policies to have better football teams and greater financial rewards. That would improve the domestic league first and foremost. As a byproduct of that improvement, Scottish clubs would do better in Europe.

I reckon if we got the OF to fuk it would really help in long term

Frustrating and a bit depressing - this was a decent chance to advance from our QR3 glass ceiling, but a lack of energy, belief and too many players either not at it or in a couple of cases, not good enough if we want to be advancing from this level.

Cyprus and their mercenary clubs have alas gone well beyond our clubs - maybe if the Europa qualifiers were in January we'd have more of a chance.......

So what now? A double header with Hamilton fkin Accies - pass me the valium.

Having watched the game, agree with this 100 per cent. Could tell pretty quickly that Aberdeen were never going to get through, Stewart/Logan consistently done by Jander (that first goal in particular...) and the first half hoofball up to Stockley was predictable.

As much as the heat was a factor, the fitness of some players was dubious to say the least.  Greg Stewart in particular looks to be carrying excess baggage, and looked completely fucked about 50 minutes in.  And Kenny McLean's first touch was a tackle (the keeper would have at least been tested if that through ball from Maynard found anyone but McLean).

There was mention earlier about clubs like Limassol finding foreign imports easily and questioning why clubs like Aberdeen don't do likewise. From an international standpoint, flooding the league with foreigners has been done before and didn't work for the national team and to be fair, one of the brightest sparks of the game was Scott Wright when he came on.

I remember that season, but couldn't remember if they were the last Scottish team.
They drew 2-2 with Bayern at Pittodrie, then got pumped in Munich.

Same year strachan took celtic to last 16 of the champions league and rangers made the uefa cup final, scotland had a cracking season in europe that year, amazing the downturn in following seasons,
