HibeeJibee
Remember the competition is played in tandem with the playoffs. Last season Edinburgh City were drawn at home to Dalbeattie, who - in effect - ultimately received a bye. Dates for this season (from LL website):http://slfl.co.uk/fixtures/fixtures-april/ Promotion Play-offs Semi-Final (2 legs): Saturday 29th April, Saturday 6th May Final (2 legs): Saturday 13th May, Saturday 20 May Lowland League Cup First Round: Saturday 29th April Second Round: Saturday 6th May Semi-Finals: Saturday 13th May FINAL: Sunday 21st May
holme
Is the Final at a neutral venue ?
LeedsPhil
Clyde are at Broadwood on Saturday 29th April, so Cumbernauld Colts v BSC will have to change days. It can't just be switched (nor should it be anyway), since Alloa Athletic are also at home that afternoon.

sureiknow
So looks like Spartans get a bye providing EK win league?
HibeeJibee
Oddly enough the Final has been at Netherdale on all 3 occasions: Preston v Stirling Uni, EK v Gretna and EK v Gretna. Can't remember exactly but I think it's normally been announced after QFs or similar, presumably to give time to prepare. Makes sense I suppose as Gala is well-appointed and central. Of course it's not the last match of the season... the curtain comes down the following weekend, with the South Challenge Cup Final. Last year it featured playoff winners Edinburgh City but they lost to Whitehill on penalties.
holme
This is so much better than what we've been used to. The season just winding down, and thoughts turning to interesting preseason friendlies in the highlands, or who will sign for the next campaign Now every team in the league still has something to play for Excellent stuff
selfassemblyshire
Preston Vs Stirling Uni at Gala? I'd be raging with that haha

HL is following suit this season with the North of Scotland Cup being played in the same fashion, parallel with the playoff. I suppose it's just a product of circumstance really - where could you shoehorn them in during the regular season, and why should 15 clubs have to stop before the end of April just as 1 club is involved in playoffs? Does have other benefits, though - every club has one last shot at glory, which is different to SPFL if you're not battling for promotion or to avoid relegation; plus you know that you keep playing until you're knocked-out, at which point your season is concluded. 3 hours ago, selfassemblyshire said: Preston Vs Stirling Uni at Gala? I'd be raging with that haha I've just looked it up and that was the first LL season: the cup was played in 3 sections over December-January, to pad out the league campaign from 22 games up to 28, followed by SFs & Final off the end of the season. SFs were Dalbeattie v Preston and EK v Stirling... maybe Dalbeattie were expected to win !!
HibeeJibee
Interestingly, over the previous 3 seasons the semifinalists have been EK (3 times)... Dalbeattie, Gretna and Preston (all 2 times)... Cumbernauld, Spartans and Stirling Uni (all once). One tie has been abandoned - Selkirk v Vale of Leithen in the groupstage in the first season for high wind and with only 10-15 minutes left. One tie has been annulled - Spartans beat Preston 4-0 in the QFs two seasons ago but were expelled for listing a triallist. One tie has been "scratched" - Threave conceded to Cumbernauld in R1 last season as their wretched campaign drew toward its close. Obviously this season 'Shire, Civil Service and Hawick enter for the first time. I was surprised to see just now that the only clubs never to have made it out of R1 - whether groupstage or knockout - are Threave (now in level below), Edinburgh City (now in level above), and Whitehill. Rab B Nesbit
We've not had much joy in this Hibbee. Off the top of my head a wee bit unfortunate to exit from a group of death Stirling, Edinburgh City and Spartans? Away to BSC and last year at home to Spartans after extra time. HibeeJibee
According to the EK News the holders East Kilbride have elected to play on in this season's competition, in parallel with the promotion playoff, fielding fringemen and youths. Their tie at home to Spartans in R1 goes ahead on Sunday 30th April, which date is also confirmed on LL website.

colinmc
Why can't the final get played somewhere different. There's a amateur final this Friday night and it's at the livi stadium. Most finals are at a ground most players play at during the season. Make it a bit exciting for the players.
satchmo
Nice to see the full draw appear on the SLFL site eventually as it's been on Dalbeattie Star's f/b page since the 4th of April
