Tommy Wright has usually managed to get a reaction and result from his players after a disappointing performance.  He has made it pretty obvious that he was unhappy about Saturday, so would be surprised if we don't see a vastly improved performance.

The one thing we have to avoid is gifting rangers a goal to go in front, as we have done so often against teams that are struggling for confidence this season, though admittedly mostly at McDiarmid.  It would be great if we could take the lead and get the hordes on the home team's back..

Predict 1-1.

Zander will keep his place, but he wouldn't have too much grounds for complaint if Mannus was brought back in.

Foster Anderson Shaughnessy Easton

Alston Millar Craig Wotherspoon

           Swanson

           Maclean

Probably yet another sentence taken from a 10 minute interview, where he mentions he feels like he'd be capable of managing at a higher level than us, being strung into an article about how he's desperate to leave.

Truly strange how he makes these comments every time he's been asked over the past few years, yet it's only now, when we're about to play a Rangers side that we're trying to catch, that it becomes worthy of daily articles on the BBC website.

Think it's petty to pick up on the Hearts/Aberdeen thing in what was a very good and honest email. Glad he tried to explain his thinking from the weekend and that deserves acknowledged.

"We changed the system for the game because we thought that was best with the players we had available plus the fact that we have struggled at home recently. The idea was for the midfielders to run from deeper and cause them problems.

However, unfortunately, individually and collectively we didn’t start the game at all well and didn’t do the basics well.  You cannot win matches if you don’t win your tackles, work harder than the opposition and pass the ball well – none of which we did and combined with the fact that we got caught in possession in our own half on at least half a dozen times led to an exceptionally poor first half showing.

So irrespective of the formation used, we didn’t do basics well – in fact we did the basics very poorly.

The fact that the two goals were totally down to our own failings meant that we could have played badly and still maybe have got a point but the goals ultimately summed our performance – both preventable and both down to us.

The players are hurting and I’m hurting and we want to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.  The players were called in yesterday and we had an open discussion because it’s not rocket science – our home form has been poor compared to away form and this is preventing us from pushing on to try and catch Hearts and Aberdeen and it’s something we have to fix."

A bold statement, imo

First goal is vital in this, as much as I want us to attack their horrendously open defence, sitting in for the opening 20 minutes and allowing the crowd to get on their back (might only take ten minutes of 0-0, we're a diddy side after all), might be a good plan. They seem mentally weak so theyd likely struggle if every poor cross was booed.

Kenny Miller is the main threat, McKay and Waghorn apparently playing either side, which would be pleasing, as both are utterly predictable. Only player I fear in their team is Lee Wallace.

Clark

Watson - Anderson - Shaughnessy - Easton

Foster - Millar - Craig - Wotherspoon

Alston

MacLean

Would do me. Foster/Watson controlled Tierney for the majority of the match at McDiarmid, and hes superior to Wallace. Wouldn't be shocked is Swanson slotted in somewhere though

You could say that is a pretty defensive line up ready to sit in and let Rangers have the ball, but saints see saw style we will probably scud them. Have fun the saintiess that made the trip.
