Who do we want to see promoted into League 2?

Recommended Posts

As the season is nearing it's climax, I thought it'd be interesting to hear from everyone which Highland/Lowland League team they would most like to see get promoted into League 2.

Absolutely no one.

Cowdenbeath and Clyde are needed in this league to give it credibility.

Don't think the league need Clyde or Cowdenbeath. Clyde now on a slippery slope. Think EK would beat Clyde or Cowdenbeath in the playoffs. Comments made about ek earlier in the thread may come back to haunt you now.

Wait till you see their first travelling 'support' then tell us again there won't be much difference.

Was meaning more for an away day. Central belt towns EK and Cumbernauld both pretty similar. I don't think any club in this league minus the Derby day ones have that great of an away support that it'll bother any of the clubs too much.

Think that's a bit petty a lot of away games we take a couple of hundred as stirling did on Saturday that's a couple of grand per game

Anyway if we go down we deserve it

Cove Rangers have to be favourites now, and have the best transport links for League 2 from the HL. I doubt their new ground will be ready though, and don't know what ground sharing arrangements would be acceptable to the SPFL (and possibly the HL).

Cove's new ground should be good to go for the start of the new season, so people are saying.

Regardless, it won't be an SHFL side coming up. Brora have already openly thrown the play-offs once, Cove looked like they did last season, and Buckie voted against the idea of it when the meeting to decide upon things went ahead. The latter are stupid enough to go onto the pitch to try and win the games, though, but their title challenge took a fair knock on the weekend.

Brora's antics two seasons ago should have seen the SHFL kicked out of the playoff set-up, or at least made to make a grovelling apology to those in charge. Pathetic actions from that lot.

A lot of away games? What ones? Stirling?

Like I said it'll affect your away derby games but nobody else, if Montrose were to go last year we would've felt the affects of it and Forfar too to an extent but nobody else in the league would've. Same with Clyde or Cowden or whoever it may be. Affect a handful of clubs only, imagine QP/Stirling for Clyde and the Fife clubs for Cowden, well mainly EF.

If you believe they thrown that play off game you need to take your tin foil hat off, a Gary Wood worldie was the only thing that beat them, they were 15 minutes away from winning it.

Bollix. Half of Brora's first team didn't show up that day for a variety of reasons, one of whom was given permission to miss the game by the club so he could go to a dinner with his parents, and during the game one managed to get himself sent off for the most ridiculous and unnecessary challenge seen in a good while.

They'd a teenager on the bench who'd never kicked a ball for them, FFS. Summed up their attitude to the game, and it was worth an extra player to Montrose by the end.

I don't immediately subscribe to the idea that Brora threw the game back then, but have even less faith in the idea that any of the current ten teams are needed to lend the credibility.

Last time neither Clyde nor Cowden were playing at this level was back in '09/'10, and the league seemed to be doing fine back then. Albion, QP, and Stranraer were some of the other teams that seasons, and they are hardly powerhouses. Heck, L2 survived without Cowden the past years, no problem. Would it be a loss for the division if either of the two was relegated and replaced by EK/Brora/Cove/Buckie? Definitely (schadenfreude will go a ways to making up for it), but it's not the end of the world for the other clubs.

Dream scenario would be Clyde going down with Cove coming up.
