Post Your Voting History!

What if you support Independence, are pro-Europe and think the SNP are probably the best option at Holyrood?

Pretty sure I've thought about each of these things extensively but I obviously need to vote against what I actually think to not be a sheep. Might go BNP next time.

Difficult decision- who do you go with? Constituents? Country? Conscience? Or all 3?

I know there was a study which "guessed" how constituencies voted and it showed something like 400+ "Leaves" and 200+ "Remains" so just follow your constituency. Might have been embarrassing for a few Mps from all  parties but it would still have been triggered for good or bad. Mind you the idea of the "will of the people" being immutable in such a close result will leave "wounds". Don't think you  can represent all three as "Country" trumps the other two?( Bridge not the Donald)

Not at all. I think I voted exactly the same, albeit without the European election when I don't think I bothered. I've also been voting for a lot longer.

Wonder how many EU remain voters would change their views were Sturgeon/ the SNP to decree it so......

At the previous EEC referendum (1975), the official SNP position was "No" (i.e. Leave)

I was too young to vote at the time, but would have voted "Yes"

In 1975 the votes were as follows

England      68.70     31.30
N Ireland   52.10      47.90
Scotland     58.40     41.60
Wales          64.80    37.20

Only Shetland and the Western isles voted No in all of the UK. So if you had voted as the 'country" did you would have been the will of the British people. The SNP view then was that Westminster should not take Scotland into the EEC on the terms agreed by Heath, mainly I remember for much of the reasons that the 2016 Leave campaign gave. Fishing and Agriculture seemed important to them then? At least then there were terms to judge before voting . This time?

Yes, but he's insecure and angry about the fact that most on here don't share his love for the Queen and Britannia.
It is interesting that he suggested "Post Your Voting History to Show How Scottish You Are" though. Normally Britnats are at pains to claim that voting No didn't make them any less Scottish. "Um Scottish an British", etc.
Clearly RedRob doesn't feel that way and doesn't think he's Scottish enough. Shame.

You're a young man that's clear, you are the future of Scotland and that worries me deeply.
I'll be retired in five years, and then you will have the responsibility, it passes to you.

queen loving ***.

Aye, we have a company originally formed in 1958, that's still doing OK, and it's all down to being a Tory and a Royalist!?

Everyone has a right to occasionally show their ignorance on here, but posters like you abuse the privilege.

2011 Scottish Parliament Election - SNP / Green

2011 AV Referendum - No (I regret this one)

2014 Scottish Independence Referendum - Yes

2015 General Election - Did not vote as I was Living abroad in Malta on Erasmus Program (I would have voted TUSC if I was not abroad)

2016 Scottish Election - TUSC (Trade Union and Socialist Coalition) / Green

2016 EU Referendum - Leave

First eligible in 1997, but for a part of London that I didn't live in anymore, didn't give a toss about, and is such a Tory area that only three candidates bothered standing (and one of them probably lost his deposit). So, I didn't bother.

SNP all the way since then. Yes to AV and Indy, Remain to the EU.

In a moment of weakness, my mother admitted to voting for Thatcher once, and nobody in the family ever let her forget it. They're all dead now, but it's a tradition that I try to uphold to the best of my ability. We don't discuss it, but my father is almost certainly one of those Tories who crossed over to UKIP, although I have a dread feeling that his 'X' has ended up in the box next to 'BNP' or 'National Front' on occasion  :barf

My apologies, have I replied correctly on this post?

It's time to hit 'blanket fair', but can I ask first why you would call me *** scum? You don't even know me, your prejudice is clear is it not?

ETA, it's up to the Mods I suppose, but P&B was a better forum a few years back!

That's all very interesting, Rob.

However it behoves me to point out that you were the one who, unprovoked, came on here and started complaining that the majority of posts were from people having the temerity to say they voted SNP or Yes (at least, one assumes that is what your "how Scottish you are" outburst referred to. Please let me know if I'm incorrect).

No-one made you do that. It was your choice. And now, having provoked a reaction, you're crying about that too.

The fact that you also immediately relate matters to YOUR company, speaks volumes too. There's more to the world than your experiences, and viewing politics through such a selfish prism isn't particularly edifying.

Personally I'd be better off voting Tory if only for their tax attitude, but I'd prefer we had a fairer society.

You're the past of Scotland, and that heartens me.

I'm not sure about your point 'unprovoked', do you have to be 'provoked' before making an observation (certainly not a complaint). Hardly an outburst, such a sensitive wee soul for a poster who's contributions usually make a decent read. Great use of the word 'behove' btw, it's such a twee old fashioned word, I'm gonna be using that all day! Cheers Rab

 Maybe I was exaggerating your "outburst" somewhat, fair enough.

voted SNP any time they had a candidate, including SNP/SNP when I had 2 choices. Voted YES for devolution and YES for Independence and REMAIN (reluctantly) in the EU referendum. Only party apart from SNP I have ever voted for was the Liberals, way back when the SNP didn't have a candidate in Leith and I didn't want to vote Tory or Labour
