For @topcat(The most tip top) or any other poster. How many games do Aberdeen need to win to deny Celtic and the Scottish media dream of clinching the title v Sevco at Parkhead?

Not that I'm all that bothered but it would be very enjoyable if we could deny the Glasgow media their dream ending.

You need to win two out of your next three: Ross County  (H), Hamilton (A), Motherwell (H)

The physical safety of hundreds of Glaswegian wives depends on you

Cheers man. Fingers crossed we do the business and deny it to them. Last two seasons Celtic have won it by virtue of us losing at Tannadice and then won it v us at Celtic Park so it would be nice not to be involved this time.

That and the poor, long suffering wives of Sevconians avoiding a beating. Probably all named Senga.

Actually the scenario outlined above could still see you involved. You entertain Hearts in the early kick off the following Saturday

Aberdeen are 24 points behind with 30 up for grabs by the time Old Firm game is over.

Assuming Celtic win all the games until the Old Firm game, Aberdeen would need to lose 2 and draw one of their next 3 for Celtic to clinch it against Rangers. Also Rangers would need to at least draw 1 of their next 2 before playing Celtic.

Deep joys. Again. Hopefully Celtic drop some points somewhere before then too so we aren't directly involved!

Also I think using entertain in the same context as Aberdeen v Hearts is an inaccurate description. We slug it out v Hearts in a shitfest from both teams the following Saturday!

Sorry for the confusion. I was using "to entertain" in the sense of "to host"

That's ok, I was just trying to make a shit joke out of it.

So Rangers are nearly mathematically unable to win the title now?

They're 30 behind with 39 up for grabs so probably be out of running within the next couple of weeks.

There will be 30 points to play for after the Celtic vs Rangers game

Celtic probably won't officially win the league that day but Rangers will probably officially lose it

Can't see Rangers winning the next 2 so they will probably lose it before then.

3 points from 6 would put them 33 points behind* with 33 points to play for before parkhead.

*Assuming Celtic beat Hamilton and Inverness

Do you mean "points"?

No, it's the new SPFL rule. Keep playing a full pre-split fixture list until Sevco have a realistic chance of winning the league.

The way they're going at the minute they could end up in relegation trouble.

  • 3 weeks later...

Away from the drama of this season's exciting title race, is there a comprehensive list (as in top 50 or 100) of top scorers for the premiership/ spl?

The other week Kris Doolan scored his 41st league goal and Richard Gordon said he moves upto 9th in the all-time list, so was just wondering...

Top 10 (this could be wrong):

  1. Boyd
  2. Larsson
  3. Riordan
  4. McDonald
  5. Hartson
  6. Miller
  7. Higdon
  8. Novo
  9. Stokes
  10. Nish
