Soor Plooms
Met the new Manager Ian Fergus at Netherdale after our recent game and was impressed by him. Genuinely nice guy who has a good coaching pedigree. I think they should have enough to stay up but this is a tough league where everybody is capable of taking points off of everybody else. Preston proved against us on Saturday that they will battle all the way this season.

Really enjoyed watching this season.totally agree regarding the teams beating each other.other than the top 2 or 3 there's very little between the rest

I'm not Selkirk fan but got a friend who's from the town and decided to follow them and I played with a few of the current players so hope to see them doing well. Hoping to see them in the Pans in April for the first time in what hopefully won't be a relegation battle. Fergus seems to have an interesting background as a coach and they've stopped leaking quite so many goals in recent weeks.
afca32
Great point yesterday. WW another tough game next week but hopefully they can keep this unbeaten run going.
The_Judge
Well played yesterday. Don't know anything about how the game went other than the order of the goals but with Spartans also drawing it says positive things about the Lowland league and that no fixtures are certainties regardless of league positions.

afca32
First Lowland League game for me at the Pans today. Hoping for Selkirk win.
afca32
Extremely low on quality but high on entertainment making it worth the trip. Selkirk had the better of the play but Preston's equaliser was a proper screamer. Each penalty was dodgy to say the least.

If Buckie Thistle defeat EK and SPFL 'Club 42' in the Relegation/Promotion Play Offs, Selkirk will be relegated to the EoSL along with Preston Ath. If 2 or 3 of the Junior Sides enter the Pyramid via the EoSL next season (as mooted), this may not be too bad for the Scouters ? .

HibeeJibee
As stated above Selkirk will be relegated if Buckie win promotion. Whoever finishes bottom of SPFL2 will be south-of-the-Tay, and at least one tier 6 champion is licensed (Edusport), meaning that second bottom would not be reprieved in what you might call the "usual way". If it happens they may rue a number of missed opportunities in the run-in:* Saturday 22nd April ... led Civil Service 1-0, conceded 3 times in last 20 mins, lost 3-1 * Saturday 15th April ... led Preston 2-1, conceded 2 times in last 25 mins, lost 3-2 * Saturday 1st April ... led Whitehill 1-0, conceded 4 times in second half, lost 4-2 * Saturday 25th March ... led Gretna 1-0, conceded in last 5 mins, drew 1-1 Had they held-on in any of these games Hawick would be sweating instead. It'd also seem a rude awakening has hit in the last few weeks going by the local press. This an article from the local paper of 31st March: Quote http://www.thesouthernreporter.co.uk/sport/football/we-ll-take-as-much-as-we-can-from-last-three-league-games-1-4407797Now that at least another season in the Lowland League is assured, Selkirk FC want to finish the campaign as high up the table as they can. Three league games remain and coach Ian Fergus is concentrating on getting the most from them, before turning his attention to the pre-season and continuing to build a side for 2017-18.Fergus has signed a number of players for next term and Selkirk know they are mathematically safe, with Preston Athletic now relegated. But there is still a lot to focus on this season. “We will be a decent side with a proper pre-season and a bit of planning, but every team will be strengthening,” he said. “They’ll be spending money and doing whatever they need to to do, because it’s a difficult league to stay in. But, forgetting about ‘safety’, we want to do as well as we can points-wise and finish as highly as we can. Then we’ll rebuild and worry about next season as it comes.” This an article from the local paper of Monday: Quote http://www.bordertelegraph.com/sport/15243800.Selkirk_now_sweat_over_Lowland_survival_following_Civil_defeat/PLAYERS, coaches and officials at Selkirk face a nervous few weeks as their Lowland League future is decided. For the fourth game in a row Ian Fergus’ team gave up a lead and failed to climb away from the bottom two places in the table. Saturday’s defeat, with Hawick winning midweek, has left them second bottom and a possibility of relegation if Highland champions Buckie Thistle can reach League Two –with the team coming down will need to be accommodated in the Lowland League.Manager Fergus now hopes Lowland champions East Kilbride will bail his team out. He said: “Today has been the same story as of recent weeks where we take the momentum in a game and take the lead but we don’t capitalise and we fall backwards as the games progress. “It is now out of our hands but East Kilbride are a strong side and they are geared to go up. “Highland League teams are strong as well but I’m hoping East Kilbride will be good enough and do us a favour. “I’m preparing for next season in the Lowland League and I’ll be looking to bring in players who can supplement the squad. “We will do an early pre-season to make sure we are a much better team next season.” Edited April 28, 2017 by HibeeJibee
HibeeJibee
Bump. Took in Selkirk v CSS tonight. Not the greatest fare but a couple of nice goals - the Selkirk equaliser was particularly well-worked and taken - and an impressive effort from David Banjo saved in the 1st half. Civil probably deserved their HT lead but Selkirk were better 2nd half. Late flurry of energy saw no goals but Strollers hopes of finishing 6th were dashed at Innerleithen. Amidst the focus on promotion/relegation, a lot of credit must go to both for their respective 5th & 7th place finishes, elbowing-out sides like Cumbernauld, Gretna, Stirling Uni and Edusport.
