Di you think this decision was made after the Russia game or after his late withdrawal and replacement just before the San Marino game???

Was a huff taken when he found out he wasn’t starting and could have been released from the squad earlier???

I'd guess at huff, he's just come back in so it has to be a negative reaction to not being selected again.

Which is strange, why wouldn't he have waited till after the play offs? Maybe he could have finished his international career at a major tournament!

He was probably the worst player vs Russia in anycase and is 32 so balls to him.

This.

He is another who seems to get some sort of free pass just because he plays in the EPL. There are younger lads who are better, quicker and less diva like than this one.

For a while, he was an essential player for the national team.  The stupid red card against Wales and subsequent injuries have made it a long time since he's really been anything other than an extra left footed player  and free kick guy.

It’s really all sort of ended pretty poorly for him, although the majority of that is down to his own fault really!!!

Emergency call up if we have to play Croatia but otherwise... (insert Alan Partridge gif here)!!!

I have to admit that when I saw the headline I just thought 'Ah, good.'

He ain't the future: 32, regularly crocked, never a prolific goalscorer and not even playing regularly for West Ham. Most importantly, we have plenty of younger cover in his area.

Exactly this. He was one of our key players for a period but his career has pretty much been on a downward trajectory for the past couple of years through a combination of  injuries, bad choice of club and old Father time beginning to catch up with him........

Another one of those player who could have had a bigger impact for Scotland over his career, and there have been a few of those in recent years.

He was a weak link in weak teams against Belgium and Russia. Slow, ineffective, and failing to do a proper defensive job. Based on those performances, it's probably a good thing he has retired.

Always pretty sad when someone retires and folk make up stories and speculation rather than just appreciating the good stuff he did. He played really well for us for a while, scored some goals etc but injuries have held him back. After Thursday he maybe just feels he can’t hack both club and country at this level. Cheers Snoddy, all the best.

This!

And he shows up every time he’s asked even with his mum being really sick. f**k these p***ks who say anything bad about him or anyone else who does the same as Snoddy did. His family comes first.

From looking at his Instagram post and the SFAs social media posts I think anyone talking about a fall-out is wide of the mark.

He was essential for us a while but it’s probably the right time to call it a day. Some player on his day though.
