Quite enjoying this thread so thought I'd add a few more Dundee United players of the past.
1. cd8f4e745f87062545ce402601ed4062.jpg
An legendary captain who went on to be chairman

2. 8fd9a15c30b5045aa20b32435ce58c58.jpg
Played for us, was part of McLeans management team and has managed several teams after us (should be quite easy for everyone really).

3. 5e67e18536996ee4a27b391137b6524a.jpg
Dundonian, played mostly for Chelsea in the 70's. Defender bought in 82 an played 10 league games in our championship winning season before heading off again.

4. 0d2b9ffa791623df0e78a1bf1e5e30ac.jpg
Played for Dundee and rangers amongst others. Went on to be my P.E. teacher whilst still being part of back room staff under McLean. Use to sit with McLean in directors box behind the dug-out and probably ended up deaf with McLeans crazyness.

Two ex Sons who both previously played at the same time for a top tier English side, although their later Sons careers were separated by by a couple of seasons.

Top picture is of the Dundee United team playing in America under the name Dallas Tornadoes in 1967

I'm guessing another short trial then? I have no idea.

Gerhard Fellner. Defender who scored in a 5-3 diddy cup defeat to Queens a few days before Dietrich's appearance. Think Fellner may be ex Falkirk.

Bang on with all 4 [emoji6] me and my pal used to give Houston stick in PE for getting to sit with McLean and getting into the games for nothing. Used to be hilarious watching McLean, you could see him screaming in the directors box and then he was up and out the door at the side to rage on the touch line instead. Ye could notice Houston and others say in the directors box rubbing their ears as he left and doing the nodding dog thing whilst still ranting as he came back. McLean was a genius but a fecking nutter
