Andy groundhopper
Be interesting to see what happens in the future, more spfl clubs trying to move their reserve/youths into men's football - rather than make their own development lges etc work properly. Can't see a single benefit to the Lowland clubs at all, promises of bigger crowds and ££ in the bank probably won't materialise. Sad times.
jamamafegan
For all the Brechin bashing I’ve been involved in, hoping for them to go down etc - I would be genuinely delighted if they survived relegation again because the SPFL barred Kelty and all the other Lowland league teams until the colts are sent packing.

As a matter of interest, are the LL operating promotion and relegation this year internally? The leagues below all declared null and void so they can't promote anyone.

So we've always bashed the old firm, were bashing Brechin, are now bashing the clubs who voted yes and are trying to legitimise bashing the one club that abstained (but may bash Brechin less) #basherupdate. I'll be so glad when fitba starts again and we can resume just loving our clubs.

What would the situation be if it was 8 for, 7 against and 1 abstention? Dress it up all you like, they're wanks.
AllyMonc
Celtic’s unwavering desire to do everything possible to develop their youth players and improve the standing of the Scottish national team really evident as despite having been pumped out of every competition about 2 months ago they’ve finally given a youngster some game time tonight. Just checked and he’s Welsh.
tamthebam
Gers wrapped up the title a few weeks ago and are out the Scottish Cup. Have they been playing their youth players recently? Back in the day we had the Premier Reserve League and the Reserve Leagues East and West. Young players would play "against men" in those days- young Meadowbank Thistle players for example would face the possibility of playing against, say, experienced Dundee players coming back from injury, out of form etc. This set up was scrapped because it was felt it didn't do anything for youth development- it was thought to be damaging to young players prospects to be playing "against men"and the u20s leagues introduced. Now the wheel turns and twats like John Collins think young players should be playing against men again. Well just bring back the old reserve leagues instead of shoehorning the arsecheeks colts into the pyramid.
DA Baracus
We've had a loan player from Sevco (Lewis Mayo) and a loan player from Celtic (Kerr McInroy) this season. Leaving aside the fact that neither will ever get close to their parent first team, are we to seriously believe that both would be better served and would develop more by playing the likes of Gretna 2008, East Stirlingshire etc rather than Hearts, Dundee, Inverness etc? Obviously the answer is no, because absolutely no one ever believed the nonsense that this has ever been about player development.

People have been assuming it's the former but I'm not 100% sure that's true.

AllyMonc
Ah yes, Gareth Bale who made his first team debut for Southampton at 16 and scored his first goal at 17 is a perfect example of how brilliant an idea Colts team are. Strachan is an absolute roaster.

FairWeatherFan
At least it looks like Robert Lewandowski actually played for a 'B' team. Unfortunately more of an example of why people are against them. Starts off with a lower league side. Gets signed by Legia Warsaw and put in their 'B' team ultimately released after a season. Rebuilds his reputation at another lower league club and gets signed by Lech Poznan.

It follows a pattern in the press of ghost-written articles making ridiculous claims for Colt Club inclusion. In this week's Herald newspaper alone we've had drivel from McLeish, Gordon Smith and now Strachan. Having said that however, and in fairness, they obviously must have had some amount of reader blowback as James Cairney yesterday wrote a decent article from the opposite viewpoint.
