Old Firm Colts in L2

As far as I know, Clyde are vemenously against it. I can't see why any other club in League 2 would disagree.

It would also be a bridge too far for me. As it is I generally go to Clyde games because it's a social occasion where I can socialise with friends and I also commentate on them for a software company, I just can't get emotionally attached to a game. Whether it was the 5-0 win in the Scottish Cup on the Tuesday and then lost away to bottom of the league Montrose four days later, nada.

The big wigs are happy to have a racist homophobe in charge of the game's development. I'm afraid the game is now a bogey.

It should, IMO, be a red line matter which lower-league clubs simply aren't prepared to accept. It is about integrity and respect. Astonishing this comes out 2 days after Mackay starts.

They got terrible crowds in the Challenge Cup - playing when their first team didn't have a game! - so there is no question of it enhancing the leagues... There is little or no evidence it makes a difference to youth development (plenty countries with B teams are awful - plenty without do well)... Even if it did, it'd simply lead to the 2 biggest clubs getting even stronger.

So who put the Tories in charge of Scottish football, cos that's exactly what that is. Football for the few instead of the many, the pursuit of money instead of quality and customers ripped off, fleeced and treated like dug-shite.

f**k off to Tory-ball.

f**k off to racist, homophobic, sexist bigots.

f**k off to an elite trampling over the many.

If LL were to accept them how easy would a no B teams rule to put in for the spfl? Require 11 premiership clubs to approve?

This rule already exists.

To be precise 'B' teams can't play in HL or LL, i.e. you can't have a 'B' team in tier 5. Of course rules can be changed. Indeed it sounds like SFA want OF 'B' teams to join tier 4 direct.

about 25% more than you got for your next home match

Celtic B's home crowd in Challenge Cup R1 was 216. Let me say that again in letters... TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN. Do not try to say the B team crowds were anything but poor.

Can just imagine the excitement on a match day morning, Rangers B at home in the league. Playing a bunch of bairns who aren't even caring about the score line, small band of your local **** in the away end with their Arbroath Loyal Union Jack giving it No Surrender.

Sounds good. Also pretty sure that these 20 year old bairns getting a scudding from lower league journeymen every Saturday would really benefit their development and massively improve them as footballers. Be qualifying for tournaments for fun after it IMO.

And that was for a novelty match, the first of its kind. How do we think the crowds would be doing if it were January, and the kids were getting beat every week? I don't think there's any doubt they'd be into double digits.

Apparently 23 of the 30 lower league clubs need to approve it. Surely that won't actually happen? There's a few clubs out there who love the Old Firm cock but surely not 23 of them?

If this goes through I see little point in lower league football continuing.

The only positive I can see coming from this is the absolute seethe from Warburton etc when a lower league jobber ends some Rangers u20s players career with a throat high challenge

It requires an 11-1 vote of Premiership clubs; a 17-5 vote of Premiership & Championship clubs (75%); and a 32-10 vote of all SPFL member clubs (75%).

My reading and previous understanding of the rule isn't like the Sunday Mail who seem to think the former SFL divisions vote on a 75% supermajority basis - although if they did it makes it harder to pass.

Presumably the 2 ways for it to be prevented would be 2 or more Premiership clubs voting against it - out of self-interest or principle - or a substantial alliance of lower-level clubs.

Not bad for a midweek game on TV in being played in Greenock

Still not a positive tbh. Warbs probably won't give a shite.

Just like the Rangers/Celtic fans.

Get real. It was on PremierSports and your first-team weren't playing (which they usually would be on Saturday). It's already suggested you'd wish to use Greenock in SPFL2.

Celtic 'B' played 3 ties, Rangers 'B' played 2 ties, and the supposed boon of big crowds utterly failed to materialise. That's reality.

Nah I think he would, a lot of his coaching background is in youth football and he was involved with the whole next-gen champions league thing I'm sure, so if someone like Jimmy Scott were to break some Rangers darling I imagine he'd get worked up. Also can imagine pages like IbroxLoyal1690 on twitter getting riled up about it which would be faf.

TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN! That's an abysmal attendance and proves that your fans simply won't turn out to watch a youth team.

If only 216 people attended when there was no clash with your first team, how many do you think are going to turn up when your youth side is playing at the same time as your first team?

And that will be the next rub off the green.  OF games on a Saturday will possibly lead to their colt games on a Sunday so that they're fans can increase the attendance figures.  Just another way of screwing up the traditional Saturday kick off times.

If this came to pass Scottish football will have finally disappeared up its own arse.

When o when will the powers that be realise that the OF are not the solution to the problem, the ARE the problem

The of aren't the problem as individual clubs. The SFA pandering to them is the real problem, media don't help either. Never get called out for their bullshit when they come away with any like the rest of the clubs are.
