ICTJohnboy
Can't see the point of putting him through the impeachment process again, when that doesn't necessarily force him out of office. If anything, he should be be charged with incitement to riot, and taken into custody.

It stops him from running for public office ever again. No 2024.

madwullie
Just FYI, a guilty verdict wouldn't automatically do these things, there is a separate vote on whether he can't hold office again, and whether he has access to pension, SS detail for the rest of his life etc. I'm not sure if they van vote not to impeach, but vote yes to the others though. It might need a yes in both votes. Edited January 11, 2021 by madwullie
Benjamin_Nevis
It would be the perfect end to Trump's Presidency if a riot instigated by him ends up with him being successfully impeached and convicted by a Senate which his own insane ramblings had helped push towards the Democrats.

US presidents can do a lot of things by executive order, so the next 10 days are still a very dangerous time in terms of a second attempt at a coup d'etat or doing something crazy in a conflict zone overseas. The optics of doing nothing to oust him at this point would not be good. Will be interesting to see if he gets arrested the moment he is out of office. Regardless of whether they can link him directly to what happened last week, the phonecall made to the Georgia official is in the public domain and will be very difficult to ignore and sweep under the carpet.
Sherrif John Bunnell
It's funny how the right are trying to paint Trump as some upstanding defender of free speech. The same Trump who has been trying to shut down TikTok because he was upset at someone lip-synching his speeches.
HTG
Can't help but feel that a lot of this is corporate shitebaggery. This c**t could have been shut down almost any time over the last few years and particularly during his recent bleating phase where he's piled up one whopper on top of another. They've all waited for the electoral college confirmation before deciding it's safe to do anything. The PGA is the latest example - they could have pulled their events as soon as "grab them by the pussy" emerged. He's gone very quiet though. The president of the USA still has a decent number of platforms through which to communicate. He's maybe in a giant huff right enough.

The Minertaur
I love the PGA stripping Trumps Bedminster course of the 2022 PGA Championship. He'll be absolutely raging at that. Gutted he doesn't have Twitter to comment on this.

Michael W
Might be worth impeaching him before he tries to pardon all and sundry. I get that the big bad man will be gone shortly, but the Presidential powers need to be reigned in a bit after this. Not sure the appetite is there though.

Granny Danger
If Trump wants his voice to be heard he can hold a press conference. Surely that’s a reasonable thing for a sitting President to do. He can talk about any issues he wants and take questions from journalists.

DeeTillEhDeh
Free speech is no longer allowed in this country and will soon be worldwide Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. It never has.The regurgitation of this defence every time bigoted viewpoints collide with criticism is merely a tactic used to avoid accountability.Manifestly, we are all free to say whatever we like, but it doesn’t automatically follow that what we say will be received positively by either the public or our employers, and nor does anybody have an automatic right to be given a ‘platform’ to air their views.
welshbairn
Not sure how Trumpets will react to this, on the one hand he was clearly on their side, on the other he caved and effectively betrayed them by conceding the election and calling them criminals, and a fair few have been arrested and a lot more are on the the no fly list as suspected terrorists. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-mob-failure/2021/01/11/36a46e2e-542e-11eb-a817-e5e7f8a406d6_story.html
