welshbairn
If Sanders spends most of his doner money just explaining why a single payer health system would be cheaper while covering everyone, instead of attack ads siding with Trump against Biden on trade policy, he'll have a much better chance. I think we are well past the point of kidding on that rational arguments have any electoral impact. Biden's campaign is basically a rerun of the Eddie Murphy movie the Distinguished Gentleman where he gets elected on name recognition alone. He has no policy, no grassroots and can barely string a sentence together but racks up support from TV viewers. People are laughing at Bloomberg but he probably thinks spending a billion to keep Warren alive and take heat for his own racist policies to cover Biden's far worse racist legislation is money well spent. Bernie's campaign need to start hitting the Biden has Dementia line hard. Not nice but he's a scumbag and lives are at stake.
J_Stewart
Say what you want about US politics, but surely both the Democrats and Republicans fielding a candidate each with long-standing, ever increasing levels of dementia shows that socialism actually really can be accepted in ‘merica
RiG
Trump received his intelligence briefing yesterday when he spoke with Hannity on Fox. this gem of a quote was picked up during the conversation:
Savage Henry
People get the sort of government they deserve. The Democrats will get the sort of candidate they deserve. A President Biden will be “better” than a President Trump in the same way Prime Minister Blair was “better” than Prime Minister John Major. As for all the people wanting better health care, tough tittie. Not if you are an asylum seeker, looking for reason in Supreme Court nominees, against a government made up of monied incompetents, worries about US standing on international issues, in favour of NATO, concerned about climate change, or hoping for a veep who isn’t an unhinged religious zealot...It’s reductive in the extreme to suggest Biden = Trump. While it’d only be an incremental improvement, it’s far from a Hobson’s choice election. Like many in this thread, Bernie is my horse but given it’s a coin toss between him and Biden, we ought probably be looking for positives where we can. Bernie or Bust is tantamount to supporting Trump, who is likely the worst US president of any of our lifetimes.
Savage Henry
On another note, I give you Matt Gaetz, the dumbest person in the House.

However under Biden monied interest groups will still take priority, millions will still be denied health care and, possibly most importantly, power structures will not change one iota. So when people get fed up of a Democrat President it will be no bother for a Republican one to step in.
NotThePars
Trump’s first term has broadly accomplished the cementing of Republican hegemony throughout American institutions top to bottom. There’s no middle ground anymore. It’s either pushing for some form of socialism or tolerating a continuing descent into barbarism and Biden doesn’t have any interest in actually changing anything. He’s said as much himself.
welshbairn
Tulsi Gabbard's campaign invigorated as she wins 2 delegates from Western Samoa. Warren finally gives up the ghost. Bernie says if Biden gets more delegates than him but without a majority, he won't contest the convention, presumably hoping for reciprocity which won't come. He argued the opposite when he took on Hillary.

I doubt it, what the Democrats need is a charismatic Kennedy type not a guy who doesn't know his own wife. I don't think the Kennedys knew much about their own wives either.

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a jumpy black and white film knocking about somewhere of John and Robert Kennedy in a threesome with Marilyn Monroe.

Clinton emulated the Kennedy's behaviour in office. Having said that what would the Democratic party give to have the charisma of a Clinton or Kennedy right now instead of the senile buffers vying for the candidancy presently.
