Saunders will mainly appeal to and win votes from the Liberal Northern East Coast and California and wont do too badly, unfortunately Trump will win the vote of middle America and the likes of Texas etc on the EC vote.

Bear in mind he is the first US president since Roosevelt who has not started or escalated a war and instead has brought troops home while still spending big on defense, the clowns who vote for him see this as a strength plus his making out he has made big deals and introduced higher trade tariiffs against countries, especially China. Having worked with the yanks for many years and traveled extensively throughout the country I kinda know how they react to phoney bullshit.

And Big Fat Tabby has got the Commie angle spot on, Trump will shoot his load all over the US on that line.

Sanders is drawing his support from the poorest Americans. Some of his  biggest donors by job are retail workers and waitresses.

His multi racial coalition including non college educated white voters is exactly what can beat Trump.

Also while he deserves credit for not escalating in Syria or North Korea I'm terrified of a more senile Trump in a second term being talked into any crazy plan with minimal brain matter and no need to worry about re-election. He has actually seemed a bit more lucid recently so his meds have obviously been upped for election season.

What people in this country tend to forget when they try to analyse American politics is that not so long ago the people of the biggest state in the US, California, voted that great intellect Arnold Schwarzenegger as Governor and not long before him Ronald Raygun the Great Bullshitter and B movie actor was elected Governor of the state and then made President, it's all about who tells the biggest lies and bullshits the most.

Bit surprised you're siding with Sanders v Trump tbh, given your support for the hardline attitude of the Home Office over here.

Next time you see a line outside a Trump rally check out the state of some of them,  Nascar fans and the lower end of white America, that,s why Trump keeps repeating his one liners so that they finally get it.

Bernie isn't in favour of freedom of movement. And I think the Home Office have been a disgrace over Windrush.

However it's easy to continually support migrant rights without considering the reality that demand to live in the UK massively outstrips any capacity we can offer and that the current shambolic system of immigration is playing into the hands of the right. We can only accept a large number of climate refugees in the future if we have the housing and services to support them.

And like Dave you offer no evidence to support your assertion.

Pessimistic cynicism is understandable but I don’t think it automatically means you’re switched on to what’s happening. The Bernie campaign is unprecedented which is apparent from the daily scrambling meltdowns from the libs in America. They have no idea how to respond atm hence why you have Chris Matthews comparing it to the Nazis conquering France, Bloomberg spending unheard of sums to act as a spoiler, and the candidates more naturally at home with Bloomberg than Sanders going in on the former on the debate stage. They don’t know how to attack Sanders and have consistently underestimated the strength of his potential coalition and campaign.

Yet you support them not allowing someone back in the country from holiday because they might, as a 14 year old, have told a fib by saying they came from Kosovo rather than Albania, 20 years ago? What would Bernie say?

The guy could get back in the country he choose not to because he would have got pulled and detained at the border control.

It's incredible that you're asking for evidence that one candidate will win a party nomination, but not the presidency.

Is your point that there can't possibly be any concrete evidence for such an opinion? If not, I think you're sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting, "NOT LISTENING!"

Once again, I hope I'm wrong, but will a second Trump term be considered evidence?

Here is the point in the original post that I responded to, “He'll win the Democratic nomination but sadly not the presidency.”

I asked what evidence the poster had to back that up; so far neither he nor anyone else has provided any evidence.

Hopefully that clarifies the situation.

If you have any evidence to support that assertion I’d still be interested in you posting it.

I'm still curious as to what you'd accept as evidence.

Give it up GD, just because your perception of political reality is exciting for you, doesn't make it likely.

Unless of course, voting outcome coincides with a stopped clock, then I'll defer to your optimism.

You’re talking nonsense.  A poster is stating categorically that Sanders can’t beat Trump.  I’m asking for him to provide some support for that bold statement.  He hasn’t, neither are you, instead you’re just making daft insulting comments.

No, no I'm not and while I'm at it, quote the categorical please.

You're like a flat earthist, but this isn't rocket science.

It's just not credible to postulate with any degree of positivity in 2020 that a "socialist" will win the day, not in the UK and not in the USA.

You seem to have a real problem following a simple argument.

I have never claimed Sanders would beat Trump, I certainly take issue with someone stating categorically that he wouldn’t.

At the GE the polls were pretty clear that Corbyn’s brand of Socialism was not popular in the UK, however the polls in the US are fairly consistent in showing Sanders lead over Trump.  Maybe you’re the sort of person who only pays attention to polls when they’re supporting your position.
