The Official Former President Trump thread

Trump having to pay $2m because he used his charitable foundation to fund his campaign appears to have barely caused a ripple.

In and of itself that should be seriously denting his standing.  US politics since his election are totally fucked up and might never recover.

The former Ukraine Ambassador really putting the boot in here.

Delicious!

eta...He's to visit the UK on on December 2nd - hopefully he'll try and boost Johnson's campaign, and slag off Jezza. That will only be good for Jezza.

We just need another Monica Lewinsky to come forward now.

Judge :   Did you ask that lady to lie for you?

Clinton :   No sir, I asked her to kneel.

That's the incredible thing about this one.

Last impeachment: Did a girl kiss you on the willy?

This impeachment: Did you break 42 international laws?

Both are ending up the same way.

Obama sticking his oar in with a thinly veiled attack on Warren and Sanders.  He should keep his trap shut.

As he should have done in 2014 and 2016.

It seems to me that his oratory and other features have fooled many.

He's doing what the people who pay him on the after dinner circuit expect from him. He was and is pro corporatist so he will attack anyone who threatens the funding of the people who fund his nice lifestyle. He's not really any different than a Tucker Carlson type in this regard.

He was never a socialist, at any rate. A big government centrist liberal. He’s significantly more intelligent than Tucker Carlson, who sold his brain at the same moment he sold his soul in the name of Trump.

That being said, Obama’s presidency was dignified, measured and, while not radical in any shape, probably more progressive than any other US president since Carter.

The further a presidential candidate moves towards the left in the US, the more they alienate the swing voters. Those swing voters are more inclined to permit a right wing agenda (as we saw with Trump) than a “radical” leftist position like Sanders (who is actually not really all that left wing at all by UK standards).

The Democrats can’t behave in the same way as the Republicans. Almost every single poll says that Biden is the best bet to beat the Wotsit shitgibbon. Any reasoned analysis would suggest that Biden is the least progressive, least radical candidate running (other than the halfwit DINO Tulsi Gabbard, who would alienate so many Democrat voters that Trump would win in a landslide).

Of course, the Zero Hedge/Inforwars position is that Obama was a war-monger and Trump is the pacifist. Obama, in fact, was largely a foreign relations Realist with much in keeping with Clinton.

I’d love a George McGovern style candidate, but look what happened to him. 2020 is purely about beating Trump in the swing states, and Biden is hands down the best chance to do that. Policy wise is a completely different ballgame.

They can swing back to the centre in the general election though.

Sanders would be incredible, but I'd be more than happy with Lizzy Warren. She seems to have a nice balance - and a warmer female candidate without the Hillary baggage could really ignite the electorate.
