Why do Assange apologists think it was okay to trash the reputation of the two women who made the sexual assault and rape allegations?

One of them provided a ripped condom which has no trace of Assange's DNA which is impossible if he wore it.

And this is the entire point of this for Trump. He has a chance to go after the press that he sees as his enemy and he's taking it. This has f**k all to do with any rape allegations and Assange's attitude towards said allegations. It's an attack on the press.

It's not an attack on the press because the vast majority of the American press are little more than cheerleaders for US military aggression.

It is an attack on those who oppose US imperialism and an example is going to be made of the man who seriously hurt the US's ability to wage war on the scale it desires.

Bit selective mate.

The report said staff at two forensic laboratories were unable to find conclusive evidence of Mr Assange's DNA on a torn condom provided by one of two women who claim to have been assaulted in August 2010.

However, the same analysts have found DNA believed to belong to Mr Assange on a condom from a second woman

Assange is by no means a good guy. That does not make this particular arrest from the US a good thing either.

There are very few good things in the US right now, but a guy getting arrested by the fascists he bent over backwards to help elect is pretty low on my list of things to give a f**k about.

Anna Ardin produced the ripped condom with no DNA. She says Assange sexually assualted her the one time they had sex. For the next five days or so she slept in the same single bed as Assange despite multiple other people offering to host him. Assange says they had sex every night he stayed there.

The other woman (not sure what script is with naming her) had sex with Assange on one night. After that she worried about STIs and wanted the police to compel him to take a DNA test. The police illegally didn't record the interview and tried to get the woman to sign a statement saying Assange raped her. She refused. She sent multiple text message making this explicit.

At the police station on 20 August, W texted a friend at 14.25 “did not want to put any charges against JA but the police wanted to get a grip on him.”

At 17.26 she texted that she was “shocked when they arrested JA because I only wanted him to take a test”.

The next evening at 22.22 she texted “it was the police who fabricated the charges”.

With the why Sweden question it's worth noting that rape trials in Sweden are heard in secret and have no jury. It's also worth remembering that the UK told the Swedish prosecutor not to come to the UK to interview Assange. It's also worth remembering that the UK government accidentally deleted all the emails and documents concerning the extradition. And as Anna Ardin says Assange was interviewed by Sweden and wasn't charged. The case was closed.

The UK media have gone out their way not to report the details of these charges.

Julie Bindel is an English writer, radical feminist, and co-founder of the law-reform group Justice for Women, which since 1991 has helped women who have been prosecuted for killing violent male partners.

She said this about Assange's rape deniers:

"But some liberal-lefty men have been bending over backwards to rewrite definitions of rape to suit their blanket adoration of Assange. They seem to be too stupid to work out that you can admire and defend WikiLeaks without canonising its founder. In the world of Assange-lovers, women who allege rape and sexual assault are either lying vixens or silly unsuspecting pawns in the fight between freedom fighters and the US.

Galloway and those who spout rubbish about what "real rape" really is (ie nothing other than that committed by a stranger wielding a knife who attacks a virgin) are not rape apologists, but rape deniers. Most rape falls into the category that Galloway has decided is simply "bad sexual etiquette", ergo most women are lying, and most men are the victims of spurious accusations from women who should read up on rape legislation.

He has also remarked on Press TV that, "I mean not everybody needs to be asked prior to each insertion. Some people believe that when you go to bed with somebody, take off your clothes, and have sex with them and then fall asleep, you're already in the sex game with them." He continued: "I don't believe either of those women, I don't believe either of these stories."

If a woman groped the penis of a sleeping man it would be sexual assault. If a woman is asleep and she is penetrated by a penis, she is not in a position to consent, and therefore, under English law, it is rape. We all know this, but the problem is that many of us chose to pretend otherwise when supporting a man lauded as a god-like figure. What is depressing is that it is, in this instance, coming from men on the left – those who are supposed to be our comrades and allies. Yet again I am hearing loud and clear: "Yes dear, you can have your equality, but can you wait until we have ours first please?"

No chance boys. You cannot have your so-called pro-equality politics and be a rape denier."

I agree with that but it's completely irrelevant to analysing the evidence that was presented against JA.

If he had the chance of a public trial with a jury in Sweden I think he would have taken it but the plan was clearly to convict him in a secret trial then whisk him off to the USA.

Again it's worth remembering that Sweden isn't the progressive paradise that it is stereotyped as and they have been complicit in US illegal rendition and torture in the recent past

Another strange fact is Ardin's lawyer is the personal lawyer of the former PM of Sweden Fredrik Reinfeldt.

Quote

Elisabeth Massi Fritz, who represents his unnamed accuser, on Thursday told the Associated Press that “we are going to do everything” to have the case reopened “so Assange can be extradited to Sweden and prosecuted for rape”.

The boy has been sentenced to community service in a ruling welcomed by the Reinfeldt family lawyer Elisabeth Massi Fritz.

Also note the Guardian saying she is unnamed when she has been named in Sweden and other countries and is tweeting publicly about the case....

Wow, a conspiracy of possibly global significance, just join the dots. High profile case gets high profile lawyer shocker. At least Assange will have no excuse to fight extradition to Sweden now with the US initiating proceedings in the UK.

He will still be right to be worried about the secret trial.

It was only a few months ago you were lapping up the Guardian's fake story about him and Manafort. I don't think you are a good judge of these things.

Right. In these troubled times in which we live, ideas like that are far too nuanced for the reactionary news responses.

I do find it hard to muster much sympathy for him though, hero as he is to the ZeroHedge/Infowars/RT crowd.

I'm on the Q-Anon FB group. Going on right now to insist Julian Assange's full beard is a sign he's the White Rabbit we're all supposed to be following.

Surely you aren’t supposed to mention that you’re a member of Q-Anon Anonymous?
