The thing about Ted Cruz's Da might not actually be that mental. Oswald hung about with a lot of Cuban nutters from both sides in the months leading up to the shooting.

What's weird is how Cruz now actively courts Trump's support when it makes him look completely pathetic. It wasn't just the father that Trump went after it was also his wife.

He’d rather look pathetic than risk losing anything.  He’s an unprincipled, worthless piece of shit.

GOP pulling money out of swing seats to shore up safer seats. Local fund raising not really hitting the mark and it seems to be now planning on rescuing the safe seats than defending the swing seats.

A week is a long time in politics and those who watch it know results can upset all the pundits, but the GOP seems to be going into survival mode. Loss of the  House will have consequences for Trump.

Facebook and Twitter need to be regulated. They have far too much control over political discourse.

Oh do go on. Everyone is always in favour of free speech until people start saying things they do not like.

Do you think print and TV media should be regulated in the UK? If you do then why not digital platforms?

The issue isn't what people are saying it's the ability of Twitter, Google and Facebook to amplify some views, suppress others and completely censor at will and without users having any idea that the content they are being provided has been edited.

TV was until recently a common resource, there was a limit to the amount of bandwidth available for TV stations so it needed to be very closely regulated. UK print press should only have to follow the laws of the land on issues like defamation and hate speech and here I am prertty liberal. Our laws have problems with some part of defamation and so on.

Demanding the digital platforms be "regulated" is all very Dangerous Dogs Act or Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communication Act, laws designed to fix problems wtihout really thinking it all the way through. Whatever laws are whipped up for Twitter will l ikely also apply to places like P&B, what laws do people have in mind? Ending anonymous accounts, making the publisher responsible for the accuracy of comments (transfer season would be a lot duller) or other over heads that would kill small outlets?

Laws are easy to demand. Outcomes hard to predict. The online world is largely governed by the basic laws on defamation etc that already exist.

I'm not saying the content should be regulated but the editorial process employed by the platforms which is where the real danger lies.

You also have to bear in mind that these are public companies that can be bought by anyone. So they might not always be as benign as they have been until now.

I was just coming on to post about this

As someone on Twitter pointed out, do you know who does know the words to the anthem? Colin Kaepernick. But then he doesn't stand so he's disrespectful.

Kaepernick has now appeared in an advert for Nike about sticking up for what you believe in even if you have to give up everything (or something along those lines).

In response a lot of tears and snotters from the right cutting off the Nike symbols from their shorts, socks and t shirts.

Folk, including family members, turning the death of McCain and Aretha into opportunities to rant about Lord Trump and 'injustice' at their funerals.

The height of Trump Derangement Syndrome, rather sick imo.

It's a pretty radical stand by Nike and an overtly political one.  Good on them.
