Israel have had the US in their pocket for decades, last time anyone stood up to them was George H Bush and James Baker. The dangerous change is that that Trump has chosen direct sides in the Sunni v Shia civil war, and even sided with Saudi v Qatar who host US's biggest military base in the region. The Saudis are happy for the US to keep cuddling up with the Israelis, they care much more about Iran.
