Fucking angrifying. You have to assume that, much like last time, the point is to show the public that the Republicans will back their guy no matter what. There may be a small percentage of Republican voters who think their representatives would put their country, their constitution, their democracy before their own interests, and this will demonstrate that's simply not the case. Then again, there's always the chance that it's a vanishingly small percentage of people who give a shit, and that cognitive dissonance is strong enough that people can believe in their democracy and also believe that, if their side loses, it's perfectly OK to ignore the results if you show enough force. Trump just got the all time high vote total for a Republican. 14 million votes more than Mitt Romney (125% of Romney's total).
