If the Democrats challenge Tillerson's nomination the hearings could get a bit juicy.

I love that story about the Environment Minister of Equatorial Guinea.

Apparently Exxon have huge interests in Russia which are currently blocked under the sanctions. Looks like Trump is draining the swamp of corrupt politicians and replacing them with corrupt businessmen.

The Democrats will definitely challenge that nomination as he would have a massive influence on issues such as participation in climate change treaties. That will the first big battle.

Edited for those who do not know Rand Paul is the son of the demi god of the Libertarians, Ron Paul. They are influential but far from dominant in the Republican movement. So far Libertarians and pro forces patriots are moving. Its a potentially dangerous grouping but far from decisive.

Lots of others will be worried about his stance on issues like trade so things could be getting interesting. But time will tell.

Heil Trump's Republican enemies are finding an issue to gather round

Tillerson could be the first lightning rod.

It's a sad day when democracy in the U.S. is dependent upon right-wingers arguing the need for non-partisanship in the fight against Putin's Russia.

It looks like the new Star Wars movie is the new target for the Trumpeting lunatics. Apparently it's an anti-trump propaganda flick.

I remember watching Star Wars in the late 70's and thinking "This film is just the beginning of a thinly disguised plot to discredit a homophobic, sexist, racist, xenophobic, mysoginistic bigot".  I'm glad I've finally been proven right.

The Libertarians are not influential in the Republican movement. Ron Paul was trounced when ran for the Republican nomination - as was Rand this year.

Most "movement" libertarians backed the Libertarian Party's candidate, Gov Gary Johnson, this year. Johnson got over 4.5 million votes (3.3%) this year, a massive increase to 1.3 million (1%) in 2012.

What fight against Russia?   Hysterical nonsense like that from weak minded fools like you is the sort of stuff that is going to sheperd in ww3.   There's no fight against Russia, we've been cooperating fighting terrorism for 15 years and economically for 25.

Our government wants a fight with Russia and is trying to manufacture one though and clowns like you lap it up.  Russia is no threat to us.

Trump just offered yet another Goldman veteran a spot in his administration

Drain the swamp! The knuckle-draggers that voted for him will be fuming.

How many GS employees were on the Obama team?

So, it looks like this "Russia stole the election for Trump" line of attack is going to be4 the Democrats Birther movement.

Does anybody remember when the Obama administration lobbied Ecuador to shut down Assange during the election? Does that not count as asking a foreign government to interfere with an election?

Draining the swamp has to do with the circle jerk of lawmaker to lobbyist to administration official conveyor belt that so many Washington folks rode around on. That leads to backscratching which benefits both the political class and the well connected. Trump is already getting to work on that issue.

He said his whole campaign that he was going to stock his administration with successful business people, and that's the reason many people voted for him. Successful people taking time out of their private life for a term of public service used to be applauded. It remains to be seen how they act in office, but there's no reason to suspect that financial gain is their reasoning rather than patriotism.

Britnats on here thinking there is really going to be a war with Russia. Idiots the lot of you

Of course Britain will not have a war with Russia, and certainly not alone.  We only bully...      picking on countries that think we can influence and where we have a vested interest.  Russia fails both of these criteria.

Lobbyists for multinational corporations with massive conflicts of interests.....bad. Putting the CEOs of these organisations straight into positions of power....brilliant idea  Which doesn't take into account the fact that career lobbyists are also getting gigs under Trump.

Not in the least bit surprised to see the likes of Deplorable defend the Donald's swamp filling activities. Nobody enjoys acknowledging when they've been mugged off.

I'm hearing that Putin forced Chillary into not campaigning in Michigan and Wisconsin, orchestrated her fixing of the primaries, lobbied the MSM into a seemingly endless anti-Trump/pro-Shillary onslaught, made her collapse and be thrown into her mobile ambulance-home, demanded she declare half the population as deplorable and irredeemables, run a campaign on outright divisiveness, etc etc etc etc etc etc. Nothing of the outcome was her and her campaign's doing, of course, it was Russia.
