A good game and a draw probably about right.

Zander Clark, Anderson and Alston were excellent for us.  Alston especially was good to see and he is beginning to get his confidence at this level...A great goal, and that Maradona spin in the second half where he left the Rangers player for dead was good to watch.

Great to see Chris Millar back playing.. We play so much more football through midfield when he's in there.  Overall our whole team did well and nobody had a poor game.

Tommy got the tactics spot on at half time as Rangers had been on top a lot of the first half, but they didn't have a plan B when we stopped the short pass out from the keeper; surely Warburton has to take some responsibility here and alter the game plan when it's not on?

Thought O'Halloran was their best player, though that might just be cos I notice him more that their others. They play decent football and aren't a bad side, though they are a bit sideyways ahead of end product at times.  But they can certainly be got at, and it's good to be able to play these teams on a more even footing.

Joint second after the first round of matches is acceptable for us :D

St Johnstone were never at anytime the better team.

Thats not true now is it?

You need to accept that you're not the same force as previously, and have no divine right to beat teams as before.

St Johnstone, as one of the top three clubs in Scotland over the past five seasons, are currently at a higher standing in Scottish football, and a draw against them for a newly promoted club is a decent result.  It was an entertaining match and your team gave us a good game for much of it, so fair play.

Mixed feelings in the aftermath of that game. It's a decent enough result, but it could have been better. We should be able to beat Rangers quite comfortably at McDiarmid.

Just when the other top-flight teams were starting to think, 'How could St. Johnstone possibly get any better?', Blair Alston has officially announced his arrival. The good times won't be ending anytime soon.

A point each, a fair result, again we don't have the pace in the final third to make our possession count! I'm not sure how we can change that for Saturday against Killie? Saints are a decent side, that's all, but it still shows how much further we have to go!

I think the newly promoted side may have what it takes to stay up this season based on that performance.  Good luck to them.

You (your fans) seemed pretty pleased with your point against a newly promoted side though, when most of the posts on this thread suggest that you expected more?

Our form against the bottom half sides has been poor for the past 18 months (Partick and Killie in particular regularly pumping us at their grounds), its almost a relief to head away to one and come away with points.

Overall a point each was probably about right. Regardless of whether or not Rangers are the team the were or whatever a point at Ibrox is never to be sniffed at, the same as any away point in this league.

We possibly shaded the second half in terms of chances and shots and a team with a little bit more pace would have took 3 off that Rangers team but as said it's still a valuable point and a better one for us than them.

You had possibly the  quickest player in the league , playing in the final third. What you and your manager fail to realise is not every player plays the same and tactics can actually benefit the players you have at your disposal .

When did passing the ball sideways and backwards a lot become a 'brand of football' ?

It's shite, may look good in the stats because they have more possession but ultimately, like at pittodrie, no end product.

It's a fair point!

The The Rangers fans need to realise they are one of the diddies now, and that this is a stonking point at home to an established top half premiership team.

It's great that you've come out of the woodwork since our demise, the natural order will soon be re-established, don't worry! You'll then be able to climb back into your box. That's not a sense of entitlement from me, it's the honest truth!

If this 'natural order' is so natural, shouldn't you have been promoted a year ago and finished 1st/2nd last season?

Also, 'natural order' proves a huge sense of entitlement .

It's Rangers remember.  Warburton or one of the players will make a comment about the 'brand of football' they're trying to play, then the press lap it up and pass it off as some kind of fact.
