Shires team looks drastically worse this season and they're 3rd

Edinburgh City shagged the LL 2 years running and not won once in 10 games

Why do people judge things after one off cup games

Calling The Mo deadwood is probably fair tbh they've not moved leagues in the last 20 year and have spent that mainly in the 37th-42nd spots, would still fancy them to avoid relegation though, looking at it, there's a handful of clubs East Kilbride and Spartans etc to me who seem like they'd have the potential to thrive in the SPFL.

I think Edinburgh will be down again come the end of the season and replaced by EK, who I think would be a big improvement, how well they'll do though remains to be seen. Aye they've a great record in the cup but when you see some of the players they have... Size of town though and plans they have for new ground etc could see them do well. Seems mental they don't have an SPFL team already to be honest.

The LL really needed the top junior clubs like Auchinleck Talbot, Irvine Meadow (they'll bounce back again), Beith, Pollok, Bo'ness United, Linlithgow Rose, Bonnyrigg Rose and Kelty on board for there to be a serious threat of emptying out the lower division clubs en masse, but EKFC are clearly the first likely candidate to emerge that can be expected to move up and make a significant impact given the catchment they have and the plans for a 4000 all seater stadium. Once Cove Rangers and Clydebank (suspect Holm Park is getting renovated with the senior grade in mind) get their grounds sorted out, they will have the potential to do the same over the next decade or so. Things won't stand still even if the fifth tier is less than perfect. As for Edinburgh City maybe they would have been due for a dip in form even if they had still been in the LL this season? I think most people would have expected Spartans to be the first LL club to be promoted and City's dominance in the previous two seasons was a bit of a surprise.

We're not coming up any time soon I reckon. Not until we get our own ground and take time to rebuild. EK will replace EC which is a shame but that's football. EK have a bit of money this season and hopefully they can attract more followers to watch them in SPFL. They certainly have good enough players already and wouldnt need much improvement for a mid table League 2 finish.

City's problem is that they never really signed anybody after beating a garabage Shire team who had the worst 180 minutes of their season. At least they'll survive the drop where I'm not sure teams like Montrose would.

Problem Montrose have, and ourselves but fortunately can't see us ever being in bother, is that the clubs at the top of the HL are paying mental money. Now the players they're getting aren't very good SPFL players. Know plenty who have had offers and plenty that have came into the league from there, but still, that's what you have to pay guys to do the kind of travelling that's involved. Market hugely restricted too. Majority of population is in the Lowland League area. Arbroaths basically Dundee. Mental that we're getting classed as highland in this split.

Huge results in SOSL recently. Wigtown won 1-0 at home v Edusport today and St Cuthbert won 3-1 at home v Edusport 10 days ago, leaving Wigtown 8pts clear out front now.

Heriot-Watt University and Eyemouth currently set the pace in EOSL - but LTHV, Leith and Tynecastle (who have already lost and drawn) have barely got going.

Threave are a mammoth 19pts behind, and given SOSL is now past halfway it would already take a monumental effort to win a return to LL next season.

Nice avoidance of the actual point- the first team which gained the right to show just how poor all the bed blocking diddy clubs in SPFL 2 are, is not only failing to do so but having a nightmare at the higher level thus far.

Not looking quite so nightmarish now.

Most of the top half and all the realistic title contenders in SOSL are licensed; Edusport, Wigtown, St Cuthbert, Threave Rovers, and Newton Stewart who have to obtain theirs or lose their SFA membership and Scottish Cup access (although we all thought that last year tbf).

In EOSL only Coldstream and Burntisland, currently mid-table and bottom respectively; but it was noticed that planning permission for work clearly connected to licensing has gone in at Saughton Enclosure where LTHV and Tynecastle are among the EOSL title contenders.

Seems like Lothian THV and Leith are easily better than Preston, Selkirk and even Gala FR, and Tynecastle are better than at least the bottom two. Would be really good if the top EOS teans got licensed.

Opportune time for an update, as plenty of league games have been completed in recent weeks compared to the preceding period.

Not much positional change in LL - Hawick have dropped a couple of places and CSS risen a couple.

Leith have taken over atop EOSL. Wigtown & Bladnoch now have a solid lead in SOSL. Both these clubs remain unbeaten.

Would Leith and W&B be allowed to come up? Leith are in the same boat as the Lilywhites if Meadowbank ends up kaput & I can't remember reading anything about Wigtown & Bladnoch doing any substantial work to the very basic facilities they had.

Not that long since the last update, but as all 3 leagues embark on Christmas breaks of varying duration, here's the standings.

Things have tightened-up quite a bit in LL with Preston recording 2 wins and Selkirk taking 1pt at Stirling, although they drop to bottom.
