Oscar Wilder
Loved the Ruts back in the day! Remember Malcolm dying had a more profound impact on me as a teenager than Sid, who at that time was a god to punks! Made me realise from a young age that drugs definitely weren't the answer!Love in Vain ( b side of Staring at the Rude Boys, I think [emoji848]) is still one of my favourite songs of that era!Saw Ruts DC a few months after Malcolm died, supporting the Damned at the Mayfair and it just wasn't the same! Saw them a few times since and they're a really tight band and seem genuinely nice guys, never met them tho!The Crack is still one of the best Punk albums ever tho [emoji106]

You see Colin Conflict has turned into a right oddball now? Pretty sad. Dick from Subhumans is sound For modern anarcho stuff Restarts and Hellkrusher are good.
Oscar Wilder
Flux of Pink Indians and the Mob, along with Subhumans were my faves of the Anarcho bands at that time, still listen to their albums regularly!

Sergeant Wilson
I met Vi and few others from the Crass movement. A pretentious old boot and the rest were worse.

Nkomo-A-Gogo
I wasn't up at the same time as punk but I don't see how punk and Ska/reggae can be lumped together as similar genres.

If you ever get the chance , have a read of Viv Albertine's book... "Music, Music, Music..., Clothes, Clothes, Clothes..., Boys, Boys, Boys" . It's an excellent read, very personal. She was the guitarist with The Slits . Edited December 19, 2020 by beefybake
