I remember last week when the statement said Barton would be back at work.  There was speculation on the Radio that he'd knuckle down and swallow his pride to train hard, even if sent away to work with the youngsters.

How many days did he do, before playing the stress card?  He just wants paid, while not needing to do anything.  A further play by him to make Rangers really want rid.

They and Barton totally deserve one another.

Greenied that for the last sentence.  Rangers spending more than they can afford to bring in the marquee signings (B-List) and Barton thinking Scottish football would be a scoosh and then chickening out when that turned out not to be the case.

Wonder if he fancies a stint in the Championship now that he doesn't need the money? :)

£250,000 reported pay off, still a huge waste of money, but could have been worse given the length of his contract still outstanding?

See ya Joey, you won't be missed.

Is this confirmed or just another Jabba plant?  I'm not sure Joey would go for so little - it's only 12 weeks' pay.

Answering my own question, it looks like this is a Rangers offer.  I can't imagine he'll accept it.

Quote

Joey Barton's Rangers career ended last Thursday when the midfielder stormed out of the club's training complex for the final time with his own coffee machine under his arm, reacting furiously after being frogmarched into the first-team dressing room by a security guard and ordered to empty out his locker.

Times must be hard at Rangers if you need to bring in your own coffee machine.
You can get them for a tenner in Argos.

Disgusting way to treat a man suffering with stress.

They subject the Ibrox loyal bigots to stress week in week out. Barton's no exception.

The negotiations went like this:

Sevco - we'll give you 10 weeks wages

Barton - no chance!

Sevco - ...and a colouring in book

Barton - sweeten the deal

Sevco - if you go across the lines in the book nobody will say anything

Barton - done!!!
