Generations without imperial measurements being taught in schools, but to no benefit whatsoever, we're going to pander to people who literally wish they'd been born a hundreds years ago.

They don't use imperial in the USA. They use US Customary. There are significant differences between the two so-called "systems"

Guilty as charged of being a measurement geek :)

Good luck to you.

As they say in Dragon’s Den, I’m out!

I won't deny that I do enjoy capturing exchanges such as this.

No disgrace in being corrected by a self- confessed ‘geek’.

However, regarding some simple stuff. (I think?)

Miles in the US are the same as UK.

Pounds (wt) are the same.

Gallons in the US are less than the UK although we now use litres.

I think they use metric in the building trades as do we?

Although differences, also a lot of similarities.

No doubt I’ll be corrected yet again?

There are indeed but there is absolutely no reason why different systems can’t exist and thrive in different countries.

The US system is derived from imperial and in some areas is  the same.

Makes life more interesting.
Here in the UK we have a mix of imperial and metric which works fine.

It certainly got more interesting when America tried to land a spacecraft on Mars and missed because NASA were using newtons per second thrust and Lockheed were using pounds per second.

2 weeks in which the EU plays a blinder and shows what 27 nations working together looks like...sanction around 700 oligarchs to the UK's 11, open the door to Ukrainian refugees without caveats, Shut down the Nord 2 pipeline, provides weapons to Ukraine, announce plans to start moving away from dependence on Russian oil and gas. Act as a proper block of countries.

Meanwhile the UK govt sits carping on the subs bench, as a complete irrelevance, while mired in Russian money.
