vikingTON
The ERG aren’t going to leave the DUP in the lurch: they’ve already hitched themselves to the staunch unionist wagon. The joys of having an unwritten constitution upheld by convention only are really coming through now, as a government without authority that should have resigned two months ago decides instead to smash its head against a brick wall indefinitely.Declare UDI now.

Paco
It's also possible the ERG now switch to supporting her deal.Looks like some are hinting they’ll back it. Meaningful Vote part 3 is on the way. Four Cabinet ministers defied a three-line whip and are refusing to resign - if they’re not sacked, does the government have any control at all over anybody else? Every vote becomes a free vote by default. Mundell included in that, for those on here that have a hard-on for him.

I don't think the Tories had an official Three Line Whip.

Guest Bob Mahelp
The Telegraph is demanding that May disband Parliament and just govern by herself (is that even possible ?) The Express is struggling to fit treason and traitors at least 4 times into every sentence. This is fun. It's like reading Rangers Media after last night.

Sooky
On the point of what the Speaker does in the event of a tie, do they not follow some old convention by a previous Speaker who essentially said that the Speaker should never create a majority where one does not exist? So such tied votes would not pass?

NotThePars
I’ve already bagsied being the guy on BBC News in the military uniform looking menacing while the news anchor tells everyone to stay at home and that “all is well.”
Paco
"So it turns out that government whip Mike Freer will be allowed to remain a government whip despite breaking the three line whip he just imposed on himself.... in order to vote against a motion, which was brought forward by his own prime minister, which she says she agrees with, but told her party to oppose."Alexa, describe Brexit to me.
Sooky
Also, at this stage, revoking A50 and remaining in the EU on current terms may seem like the most sensible thing to do and it probably is. It’s surely very short-sighted though?Britain will always be a very Eurosceptic and awkward member of the EU and using a veto here and there, whilst the EU will continue to pursue further integration in the future. Many in Britain will simply never go along with that, so all it does it kick the can down the road.So maybe there will be some sort of tiered EU system, leaving more Eurosceptic nations involved but not as closely? Then we are rerunning arguments now about rule making and taking. People will wonder why stay in if you’re being forced to follow rules you don’t make? Even if we do end up remaining, we will come back to all of these issues in the not so distant future.
