welshbairn
Depressing night, our political representatives look like taking us to what they know what will be a shitty future because they can't see beyond tribal party lines.

Detournement
It's not really surprising that the government dominated tonight. May obviously told them that she can't go to Europe with her hands bound by parliament and they are continuing to back her as they did in the confidence vote.

It is a low. For the first time, it seems to me that we're going to be willfully stepping away from a overwhelmingly good thing.
Guest Jedi
So a Tory cabal has now basically taken control of the process, to send her back to the EU, despite the fact they have already said they will not reopen the backstop under any circumstances., leaving her to come to parliament in another two weeks with the same initial deal or no deal, take it or leave it. At that stage DUP and ERG still wont vote her deal through, so, No deal it is by the looks it. We are stuffed now.
Detournement
She won't put the same deal up for another vote.
DeeTillEhDeh
Spelman amendment. Ayes 318 Noes 310 Amendment carried Tories still spouting this pish that No Deal is a threat to the EU. Like putting a gun to your head and threatening to pull the trigger - this isn't blazing saddle you fucking morons.
DeeTillEhDeh
Brady amendment now.

I'm not sure who you're pretending to be, a Trump supporter, a radical leftist or an ERG member, but whatever it is, it's boring.
Guest Jedi
Just now, Detournement said: She won't put the same deal up for another vote. But if the EU won't renegotiate the backstop? (as they have stated time after time).
UsedToGoToCentralPark
Interesting times, parliament have just voted yes that they want a deal (although it's not legally binding, just a presentational thing). Can go to Brussels now and re-negotiate, will brussels reopen talks - that is the question. Tories can blame the EU now though....

When May comes back empty handed some of the amendments defeated tonight could then pass. Edited January 29, 2019 by Granny Danger
NotThePars
Looking forward to Anna Soubry going on TV and telling Corbyn to do something about Brexit despite presumably voting against Cooper's amendment tonight.
beefybake
So what next, aafter the 1 minute ago, Jedi said: So a Tory cabal has now basically taken control of the process, to send her back to the EU, despite the fact they have already said they will not reopen the backstop under any circumstances., leaving her to come to parliament in another two weeks with the same initial deal or no deal, take it or leave it. At that stage DUP and ERG still wont vote her deal through, so, No deal it is by the looks it. We are stuffed now. Not really. Government receives the gtf yet again from the EU when May goes back to them. DUP doesn't even represent the majority in Northern Ireland. ERG represent only a faction within their party. Result ... government basically collapses as parliament rises up. to produce.... an instruction to the government to extend the deadline. Parliament will not allow a No Deal .
