There was a chap from the white fish whatever on radio Scotland this evening and apart from some casual racism from the outset that was not challenged,  said that they thought they would have things to themselves, are down 30% down in earnings and inferred that in retrospect they should've stayed in the CFP.

Imagine actually listening to a Tory and putting your trust in them!

Here he is, Mike Park at 56 minutes in. Fiona from Aberdeen can't hide her nice for him

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to see the whitefash tories in particular cuddling up with the DUP under the bus the tories have thrown them. If only someone had warned them.

"Because you voted Tory, mate".
"Oh...guess we'll just have to put up with it, then. It's probably a good thing, really, when you think about it".

Who would have thought that cutting ties with your biggest trading partner might cause problems within a Fishing industry that exports 75% of its catch, the vast majority of which is sold to its former partner’s markets in the EU?? We also import more of our own domestic fish consumption than the remaining 25% of our catch.

How can the UK Government/MMO be complicit in the reduced number of licences issued to French\Other EU trawlers that BOTH sides had agreed to, then complain about the repercussions, when we are so reliant on market cooperation with our European neighbours?
The tactics of ‘blame and bluff’ won’t solve anything here, the EU has a tighter hold on the U.K. fishing industry now, than those who voted to leave could ever have envisaged.

What's the real story with the fishing? Gammon comic The Express saying Bozo shat it by giving 100 fishing licences. The Tory arse kissing establishment media arm the BBC saying the cheese eating surrender monkeys have backed down.

Both sides might wish to gain political capital out of this, but the situation appears to have been resolved (at least for the time being) by the U.K releasing the licences it had agreed to in the first place. Teething problems with additional layers of administrative bureaucracy will take the hit.
The French Port Authorities might have avoided raising tensions by not impounding a U.K vessel in the first place, but a clear indication of the measures they will take if the U.K. Government reneges on mutual arrangements made on fishing rights.
It is certainly much easier for the French to disrupt UK Markets (not just fishing) amidst any future ‘tit for tat ‘trade dispute. The diplomatic record of this current government hardly inspires any confidence that we will avoid this post Brexit.

My impression is that the blazered lounge bar bores who run Jersey have caved after being told by London to stop taking the pish, they've had their fun with the frogs.

I see they've shat the bed, apologised and are removing the product. The question is, who thought it was a good idea in the first place? These things don't happen by accident given the amount of time and effort that goes into marketing and product placement.

They can ram their shops up their arse.

The only thing missing from that is the word 'Apron'

I wonder when they use the union flag in packaging if there is a marked rise in sales vs non flag on it or whether in Wales, Scotland and NI people are put off by it? Neither puts me up nor down.

On Brexit, what becoming clear is the absolute whataboutary. If something isn't working, blame brexit. If it does, it's because of brexit. Because everyone is still so entrenched 5 years after the vote, not a single one if us can and will ever be able to be objective.

However, what is increasingly clear is that the tone from those who were the architects of brexit, is changing from it will be the best thing ever to it now being we will not be worse off. That in itself is a fairly good indication of how it is going.

The roast chicken thing too points to some subtilties. It's a fair indication that some (not very good) marketing people have tapped into Brexity peoples desire for reinforcement that they made a sound decision. When all indications elsewhere show it has so far not delivered what people were promised, if you can see your roast chicken is non EU, then in a small way that justifies it.

If its got a Jack then it goes back, on the shelf

Even if it promises that it won’t contain filthy foreign salt and pepper, which you just know those frogs and krauts have strained through their extensive pubic thatches?
