In the highly unlikely event of a No Deal Brexit there will be a hard border between the ROI and NI.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is totally deluded.

Make much more sense having the border between N.Ireland and the UK, but you know who won't accept that.

If there was a snap election and Boris won with a sufficient majority enabling him to tell the DUP to fuckoff would he consider that option?

That's what will happen anyway. The EU will have as light handed checks as they can, with trusted trader schemes and the like, for goods coming over from Ireland, probably on the Continental side, and do zero about goods or people going into NI. The UK will do similar at airports and ferry ports on the mainland but will get panicked into doing something stupid on the Irish border when smuggling goods and people really takes off. WTO rules will be a license to print money.

Only on the Southern side if that's what they want. Not on the UK side.

Pish

The whole point of brexit for the dummy class is to enable their proto-fascist wet dream about keeping out Johnny foreigner.

The whole point of brexit for the devious manipulator class is about shorting the UK and making it a low tax, low regulation sweatshop to undercut the EU.

Neither is compatible with allowing a free EU-UK border in NI.

Unless NI is given up and a hard border is put up in the Irish Sea.

Nah, I think the government will betray the DUP. Much much cheaper and less hassle just to set up a customs border+ in the Irish sea - a solution which when polled with the NI electorate, achieved support of 60%. It's the initial plan May had and whilst the ERG kicked up a fuss, they really don't give a shit about Ireland - they were just whipped into a small frenzy about it as it suited their interests at the time. They will probably try to call it something else but it'll be done. The public in the rest of the UK don't really care either and it'll be sufficient to 'take back control' with immigration and trade.

There may be a game of chicken for a while where the government try to just undermine the customs union by not taking any action but the prerequisite of any future trade deals with anyone will require that they protect this in some way - even with the US, Canada, India, Australia, South Africa, Turkey etc who are all working on free trade arrangements with the EU or have them in place or the existing agreements or negotiations are undermined. The EU is a much bigger economy with more clout in this case. The issue can't afford to drag on for us.

Never say never but I don't see this ending with billions of pounds of spending being put towards a solution which divides communities and then fucks up our future arrangement with the United States (who would never approve a deal in that instance) and then creates decades long issues due to our violation of an international treaty. The ERG don't get anything from that, they know that NI is gone anyway - all we're doing is putting it in a holding cell for a few years. A game of spin is much easier.

The backstop is not the only part of the WA that the ERG oppose.

They will oppose it anyway but a number of Labour (hopefully soon to be ex Labour) PMs might help get Johnson over the line though the arithmetic will be very tight.

The main act that regulates safety of second-hand electrical goods for sale in shops is the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

Here's a copy of part of the title page. Looks like UK legislation to me

Perhaps she is actually more informed than you are.

The correct legislation is The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 which does implement an EU Directive.  This legislation specifically removes section 10 from the CPA 1987 and therefore removed the offence of providing goods that "fail to comply with the general safety requirement;" which is now part of the GDPSR 2005.
