Sky news now reporting an alternative extension until end of year. EU is caving, nobody wants a no deal, it will be a longer extension when she doesn't get vote through and then a second referendum. Anyone that really thinks there is a possibility of a no deal next week is batshit crazy

They would cave even more if we left with no deal.

That extension would have to include the UK having EU elections in May.

The short extension will be unconditional because they’ve accepted that May’s deal won’t get passed.

I think they could fiddle that by postponing UK elections and keeping current UK MEPs on. Farage would be delighted, the EU Parliament, not so much.

Everything coming out of the EU has said that if the UK is still in when the elections are held they have to participate.

Many countries face their own populist movements and the UK and Brexit are not helping a jot.

The worst thing for the EU would be Nigel's new party queuing up to vote and getting a bunch of seats. PR is shite.

No the worst thing would be an improperly constituted EU parliament that could not enact legally enforceable legislation. If the UK is still a member it would have to meet the legal requirements. If they offered us some kind of leave to remain without an European election at best it would be a very grey legal area at worst the parliament would not be legal until the UK left.

I think they fudged something for Croatia before but can't instantly find it. Laws can always be changed if countries think it's for the best. If it was an extension to allow a general election or a referendum for 9 months say, I think they'd find a way.

Sturgeon going the hard brexit route in the hope she can force Ayeref2 is deluded. Won't be forgotten by me.

You enjoy your precious memories fannybaws.  You do realise Sturgeon isn't responsible for Brexit. The only cvnt driving a hard Brexit is the mental boot in Downing St.

Please explain...

Do you think a poster using the name Snifter Pee Rot should be taken seriously?

Hearing it’s going to be a technical extension till 22nd May contingent on MV3 passing, should it fail to pass then the extension will run until 12th April which will give us two weeks to decide whether to push on with a no deal, revoke or ask for a longer extension but we’d need a clear reason (likely GE or referendum, NOT MV4)
