Brexit slowly becoming a Farce.

"Here's Dr John McWeather, with two PhDs in climatology, here to explain why climate change is happening. And to debate him, we have Gammon McGammon, a 'man with a van' who specialises in fly-tipping, who says climate change isn't happening because it's cold outside today"

One of these days they might get someone credible on who can explain that fossil fuels are a finite resource and that a large portion of the most easily exploitable reserves are already gone. The catastrophic climate change narrative makes a virtue out of a necessity where the switch to renewables is concerned. Planet Earth isn't a cornucopia and fracking has only delayed the downward portion of the Hubbert curve on crude oil, which will be when the fun and games really start in terms of the global economy.

I guess we have moved onto this topic, because hurtling headlong towards a no deal Brexit is too depressing, but in some ways it's an exercise in rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. On the bright side Scotland should do OK down the road, if electrical output from tidal power from the Pentland Firth was ever hooked up effectively to pump-storage hydro in the Great Glen.

They get credible folk all the time. But their obsession with balance means that they will give equal airtime to those with, frankly, dangerous views, and present them as equally valid.

Where should I start? What peer reviewed academic research on this have you found most thought provoking?

You no doubt think you are being very clever with that, but one of the problems with academic research is that people are very much siloed in their own fields, so the geologists and engineers that tend to get most worked up about peak fossil fuels seldom interact with the climate scientists who get worked up about global warming. The former tend to think that the latter have a wildly optimistic view of how much fossil fuel is actually still available to mess up the climate. As an entree, try checking out this public lecture from Prof. David Rutledge of Caltech on peak coal:

Can somebody please explain the significance of Tuesday, it seems to be being built up as some watershed moment?

My take on it is the last realistic chance of trying to get No Deal off the table, given it will be exactly 8 weeks to that date.

The talking point will be whether Labour back Cooper’s amendment.

James Delingpole? Right wing neocon. Writes for Telegraph, Spectator, Breitbart. Made his name making hay out of the University of East Anglia's climate research unit's email leaks, which was taken up by American fossil fuel interests and will have played its part in America's retreat from leadership on action on climate change. Evil to his core.

Flint looked quite pumpable on that clip. Just saying.....

Yes. Never thought I'd ever say that about her tbh.

Just watched Maar’s Interview with Coveney.   He mentioned the amount of attention being placed on the DUP’s position and rightly claimed that they do not speak for NI as a whole.

However it made me think.

I have never been critical of Sinn Fein for refusing to take their seats in Westminster, however if there was ever a time and ever an issue where their voters needed to be represented it is over Brexit.

Quite right not to take seats

If you have a point to make then make it.

Ok, They don't take their seats. They haven't since 1919. They don't see themselves as British and their core vote does not recognise Westminster in any shape or form. Even when the Irish were getting slaughtered by the Brits in 1919 they did not take their seats, so they won't now and never will. Their constitution and contract with voters is anti Westminster and this will never change.

Sinn Fein want a chaotic hard brexit that they can blame on the DUP, and force a border poll. They're attitude isn't much different from Corbyn's.

Labour change their "principles" on a day to day basis depending on the situation. Sinn Fein have always stood by the same set of principles. There is no comparison tbh.
