Queen of the South v Linfield

That should have been 5 or 6. Linfield were rather pish.

Would have loved the camera to pan in on the foghorn in the away stand. I was picturing the love child of Hamilton Accies' Fergie and Ian Paisley...

Good luck in the next round Queens, full time training showed in the end. Thought Millar and Dobbie played well for Queens and Carroll for Linfield.  Some free kick by Dobbie.

BTW, is there no way you can filter out the dicks from other teams coming onto this thread with their bigotry instead of talking football?

Thought Linfield would be better than that - mid table Scottish League 1 side perhaps?

That said we were very wasteful and showed a lack of urgency in final third and if they had somehow snatched a sucker goal we would have been struggling. Dowie and Brownlee were very solid and commanding. Lack of creativity in midfield disappointing but at end of day good result.

Big brownlie has been outstanding this season. Yet another clean sheet. Defence providing the platform for results and thankfully we got the win today despite all the sitters we missed. Hopefully a home tie in the next round.

Every time I've seen Brownlie, he's been class. Think he can make the step up?

If we were going by first half of last season he was a waste of a wage and destined for the exit door. He started performing a little better towards tail end of last season but team was in free fall so still a negative cloud around the place and maybe didn't get credit he deserved.

This season so far he has been incredible and along with Jacobs look completely different players. Strong, quick for a big guy and seems to be getting better on the ball. He still has the odd scary moment but becoming few and farther between thankfully.

A fair number of our fans dont think he should even be in our side! He has however barely put a foot wrong since about Xmas. I thought he was our man of the match today though the back line generally were solid and Dykes was a constant threat.

Depends. I think having him start regularly beside an experienced centre back is crucial, eg look at how Durnan has struggled at Dundee united without an experienced partner. Hopefully he does but i would give him at least another season at Qos and if he continues to do well then im sure he will have his suitors.

Part of his success has been playing alongside an experienced and vocal defender like Dowie as well as getting a proper run in the team which I doubt he is going to get a premiership club that are struggling. He is also pretty limited in the ball which is fine in the sense that he doesn't do anything he isn't capable of, but I doubt he can get away with that at a higher level.

Well we got there in the end. Roy Carroll played well for Linfield but Queens very wasteful in front of goal. I thought Rigg played well and Dykes has some engine on him. Just needs to improve his composure.
Home draw in next round please.

Lol. The failed State would have been an Independent Scotland if the indigenous never voted No in 2014. The failed Statelet is surely an SNP governed Scotland with Education, Policing and NHS a complete mockery compared with the rest of the UK. That's what happens when National Socialists who's sole aim in separation at all costs get into Power. Anyway this has nothing to do with football.

Well that was a struggle - that was three 0-0s in a row (over 90 mins), is that a record? Last 10 of normal time could have went either way, once we got to ET I was feeling a bit more confident.

Linfield gave a good account of themselves and they played an attacking game, so credit for coming and having a go. That said, if Dykes had his shooting boots on, we would have been out of sight.

I enjoyed the novelty aspect, and any team which brings 1,000 fans to Palmie is welcome.

Hope the Linfield fans enjoyed the trip to Dumfries, feel free to come back on holiday any time.

A relief to get through that.

We were able to dominate in terms of possession and territory, but there was a real slackness about passing and finishing that I thought we might get punished for.

As an occasion, it was a bit different and clearly captured the imagination of our guests.  I don't think the links with Rangers or with loyalist symbolism and song is confined to our imaginations though and we could do without introducing more of said shite to our game.
