Worst conditions since the Cowden play off.  Only consolation was that it was worse for the players.  Impressed with Welfare's fighting spirit, they never gave up.  Smallest crowd in a while for obvious reasons.

Humphrey is finding it hard to find a role in what is currently a strong team, same with Ross McNeil.    Winter, Woods, Malcolm, Longworth, Brady and Holmes are owning their jerseys.

No probs wi the result but wi weather warnings all over the place and advice of not to travel (especially wi oor relegation rivals getting there's called off for said reason) should this game really have gone ahead  ?

Massive game next Saturday but I won't hold my breath that game going ahead  ?

Don't be daft NB ... If you're making that argument, then you're arguing that Dalbeattie v Spartans and Leith v Hawick could have gone ahead (though club twitter suggested Leith was also off due to the complex being closed not just due to travel warning)? Those were the only games postponed on travel grounds, the rest were all due to grass pitches being frozen, although interestingly Tranent v LTHV had actually passed a morning inspection by a referee.

As well as more local games it was OK for Edinburgh Uni to travel  down to Gala, Haddington to travel to Dunipace, and for multiple SPFL clubs to be travelling all over the place - Aberdeen to Paisley, Motherwell to Perth, Dundee to Kilmarnock, Dingwall to Ayr, Dundee Utd to Inverness, Dunfermline to Dumfries, Arbroath to Airdrie, Elgin to Edinburgh, etc. - so it was hardly scaling the north face of the Eiger to be going from Rosewell to East Kilbride.

No game would ever be postponed just because someone else's was and they happened to be near each other in the table. Even on the last day of the season that couldn't happen (and indeed such a case occurred in May 2012 when Whitehill v Spartans went ahead but Vale v Stirling Uni was waterlogged).

Aye did anyone actually check the park at Dalbeattie. It's  (weather warning) happened  there before especially against Spartans  ?

Just saying likes :whistle

any work when the postponed Kelty Hearts game will be played? A massive game to win (or even draw)

There's two reserve dates on 23rd and 30th March (first one depends on if Kelty get to the Qualifying Cup final). And if EK don't win their South Challenge Cup quarter-final on 2nd March, both will be free on 6th April.

  • 2 weeks later...
He looks a good signing...where does he play in midfield?

He’ll be a good signing for you I’m sure, and he can still play at League 2 level imho, so will have no problem with life in the Lowland League.

Yeah Kilbyfan, he plays Centre Midfield and is the “breaking up play, tough tackling” type of Midfielder that you want in the centre of the park, and looked to lack when I was at your game a few weeks ago.

Good luck to him, he left us due to work commitments (so we were told) so hopefully on that front, for your sake, it’s all sorted again.
