Sad to see another Drumchapel Team fold after the Drumchapel(caley) team folding last season. Think it shows the struggles in the amateur game at the moment. Teams also like Pollok who done relatively well last season and were run by very committed guys. Hopefully we can see more young guys carry on playing after under 19s and under 21s as that seems to be the big problem these days.

Never heard anything of it. Suppose if they didn't merge with Waterside they would have most likely folded too. Also suspect the league can't go on the assumption that teams will fold befire the season begins, Although it's unfortunately a very common occurrence these days.

A real shame to hear of these clubs folding, especially considering the success some of them have had over recent years.

In addition, a blow for the league...amateur football isn't great at the moment and if the best league in the country are having issues with multiple teams folding, what chance do the rest have!

Why is it happening? To many teams or player apathy?

Supply and demand. There's too many teams now for the number of people interested in playing football. That's definitely one reason. There's just not the same desire of young players to play football as there was 10-20 years ago. You just need to look at the number of established 21s sides who have folded over recent years, that has an effect on the amateur game also as the 21s is where the next generation of amateur players come from.

Colville Park game is a week early as they are in the Scottish cup.. Too many teams and boys happy playing with their pals.. I still think the junior game is not as good as it was and to get by they are signing boys who are not at that level, problem is they think they are superstars and won't come back amateur!!

I would agree with there not being enough people interested in playing or willing to play at a decent level and put the hard work in to compete.

It would be interesting to look at how many amateur teams existed 10-15 years ago in comparison to the last year(s) as that may give an insight into whether there has been a noticeable increase in new teams or it's simply down to a lack of real interest.

This is a factor also...
