Oakley Rosyth Lochgelly Kirkcaldy Crossgates is 10 games a season against Fife teams that are aboot the same as Shippy or a wee bit better and are awe a lot more local than awe the teams in the east of scotland. plus Pumpherston Blackburn Livinston West Calder Stoneyburn Edinburgh Craigroyson are no too far the other side of the bridge, Can also play in fife & lothians cup east of scotland cup and junior cup. Burnie_man Posted September 19, 2016 Share Posted September 19, 2016 Maybe where he is coming from is that Burntisland are struggling to attract players to go play in that league, and the pounding off Glasgow Uni is a perfect illustration of this. I doubt a one-off game in the Scottish is enough to sway a player to commit to a whole season. They haven't made any impact on the East of Scotland League at all, and given that they can move over to the East Region Juniors and keep their Scottish Cup place and Licence, that has to be under consideration. They will face a number of teams from Fife and the travelling will be much less to the other away games. It really is a question only the shippy can answer but I'm sure they had a decent run a number of years ago which ultimately they failed to capitalise on. My point was mainly that they are rubbish now but they were rubbish in tge Kingdom league too. Must try harder with youth development which I think was largely neglected. Does the sfa plough money into licensed clubs for the benefit of youth teams as The youth set up has been neglected by the senior side, with 6 teams under the shipyard name but with no real direction from top to bottom, All bar the u19 side have to play and train away from the club at their own expense which brings no togetherness of a club. The committee have done well to get the ground up to criteria mark even though we're stabbed in the back by the LL for a team with no 1st team at the time or ground and still don't have a ground of their own, and by the sfa by changing the format at the last moment for entry into the Scottish cup 1st round so you wonder if they had spent the money on players instead of the ground they would be in a better position playing wise than they are today?? Licensed clubs get money... But there is not rules on what it's spent for! old speckled hen Posted October 24, 2016 Share Posted October 24, 2016 A great result for Hawick in the Scottish Cup, it just shows how things can change because only a couple of seasons ago Hawick were struggling a bit in the EOS second tier. There is not a huge gap now between LL and SPFL2, six LL clubs are in the draw for the next round but there is a huge gap between LL and EOS apart from a few clubs. Maybe a LL Div 2 would attract players to those EOS clubs who are struggling for players but there's no guarantee they'd get in as there would likely be new clubs like BSC Glasgow, Cumbernauld and East Kilbride were that would be looking to get in. I see that Duns have on their website that they are about to erect a new stand so they must have aspirations of coming back into the EOS or maybe going to the juniors, perhaps a better bet as there are too many EOS clubs in their vicinity with Coldstream, Eyemouth and Tweedmouth all going for EOS level players. Leith, Lothian and Tynecastle I think could compete in the LL week in week out. As moving up a league would help attract better players too to add to the squads they already have.
