Clydebank Fc thread 2016-2017

Good to see one of our new signings score his first goal on Saturday. Frizzel looked lively from the moment he came on.

Our defence looks really strong.

Been impressed with what I have seen so far of Jamie Darroch - looks like he is an organiser!
Still got Robert O'Neill to come back as well !!

There's a bit of a leap from U17s to U20s.

Theres no way we'd have taken the game on if Dumbarton were sending a bunch of school kids,we'd be better off playing our own 17's which are probably better than Dumbartons anyway!

Hate to break it to you BA, but...

"Manager Stevie Aitken reports that his squad tonight will have an emphasis on youth with some first team experience too."

Might want to phone your own 17s and see if they want a game instead

There's a difference between sending a young team through choice or sending it because you haven't got anything else!

The first team are available. He could easily send them if he wanted. He's chosen not to.

Enjoy the match.

Still trawling round premier league clubs begging them for boys on loan because you've only got about 9 fit "first team"players?

We have 13 fit first team players I believe. We use the loan system every year (to excellent effect), I imagine we'll do it again this year, aye. You've got a problem with young boys playing in friendlies and now you've got a problem with them being loaned out. Why won't you think of the children?!

Certainly don't have a problem with playing youngsters we had 2 U19s playing on sat and we'll probably have a couple of youngsters playing tonight too who've been playing as trialists.

Dont like the loan system never have.

Good for you.  We'll probably have a lot of U17s out tonight, hope that's okay? Or is it just Clydebank that get to pick and choose when they play their youngsters?

A system which allows bigger clubs to let their young guys get much needed competitive football and allows smaller clubs to get some quality in the squad for the season? Aye, it's awful, right enough.

Loan system is often how you can get a look at players who are surplus to requirements elsewhere and perhaps sign them up permanently if it suits. Sure we got Stefan Gonet from Morton that way.

Anyway looking forward to tonight ... hope the weather picks up a bit

It's all about contacts though and nothing to do with proper talent spotting?

If these bigger clubs aren't going to use the younger players then let them go and find their level?

Something is far wrong with the way bigger clubs are developing young players.

A player might not be good enough at 18 years old to play at that level but maybe would be by the time they are 20. Clubs need to have a mechanism of getting them game time. The problem is when you have the two biggest clubs hoovering up the talent when they're fan base has very little apetite for seeing youngsters brought through and thus boys are wasting away for years in a youth set up they'll never get out of. The loan system works well and I reckon you'd have a far lower standard right now if it wasn't available.

It is indeed how Bankies got Stefan Gonet.

I've come to the conclusion that you're just never happy. You just seem to have a chip on both shoulders.

Gonet was on the way out at Morton so not quite the same thing.

Scottish football is a busted flush because of the ineptitude of the SFA and their satellites.

It needs major surgery but won't get it due to vested interests and petty squabbling.

Brian McClair walking away is the latest example of why things won't move forward.Small minded looneys in charge of 2 bob clubs only looking at their own short term self interests.

Anybody that's happy with Scottish football needs a check up!
