Scary Bear
I like the idea of a cape - will have a look in the charity shops for one tomorrow. Get it worn on 20th August. When you scare your first granny get the cape pulled up so it covers half your face, like you're the hooded claw or Dracula.Maybe capes will becomeMainstream. Not convinced that responding in kind constitutes being 'wound up', more an effort to correct a pretty blatant misconception. But given while typing that I was additionally copy-editing my bucolic socialist manifesto, I consider my time well spent.

Zetterlund
At a Chris Cornell gig a couple of years back there was a boy in the front row with a Scotland flag draped around his shoulders. At one point Cornell stopped and asked him if he was wearing a cape. When the boy showed him that it was a flag he replied something along the lines of "you know you drink too much when you're on a night out and you suddenly realise, holy shit I'm wearing a fucking cape". True story. It would appear they haven't become any more popular since then. It would only take one or two brave, ridiculous-looking arseholes to turn this around IMO. Indeed, while places like Wagga Wagga and Ulladulla may sound like 'baby talk' to the uninitiated, it's worth bearing in mind they weren't generally imposed by the British colonial powers that settled the interior and are therefore unrelated to the modern society you've decided to criticise. But given the general tone of your post belies your incredible intellect and advanced cultural knowledge it's fairly difficult to see how serious you are trying to be. As to the original post, as plainly irritating as the dungaree-confused muppet is, it's all the more worrying to see how wound up other people get by something that doesn't materially affect them. But again, I suppose that's what social-media obsessed dullards fill their time with these days, rather than actually do something productive with their time. *Sigh*. Yes, I am aware that many names are aboriginal in origin. I think it's quite sweet that the lovely Australians use the Aboriginal names. It shows their respect for the indigenous culture in ways that not taking their land, treating them with consistently offhand racism, and stealing their children just can't touch. I save time by just calling everywhere Yabby Creek. Anyway, unfortunately it's already been pointed out, but your last sentence describes you. Replying to me. And me too, for that matter, replying to you. But at least I'm happy to be honest about it and not look like a drooling hypocrite.

For example, it's easy not to get wound up by sweeping generalisations such as the above. Your application of legacies of wrongdoing to present generations demonstrate a complete lack of understanding in what you're desperately trying to appear knowledgeable about (Australians don't just use the Aboriginal names; they just are the aboriginal names). In summary, I've always found it difficult to get antagonised by the ignorant and this is no exception.

In summary, I've always found it difficult to get antagonised by the ignorant and this is no exception. I'm left wondering if this could have gone any better. I'm a little irked that no highland yokels took the bait I left for them, but other than that, this delicious response is as good as it gets. I don't know what I like most; you attempting to "educate" me on the process of place-naming (what, you mean they use the actual Aborigine names? For those actual places?? No!), or your determination to defend the grim racism that remains at the heart of current Aussie socio-economic dynamics. No, neither. My favourite element is you telling us 1) responding to stuff online is for dullards, and 2) now adding that you don't get antagonised, all the while making shriller posts in response. I'll throw you one bone (one of your Aussie friends can put it through their nose to do an African impression) - you do make one vaguely salient point; I shouldn't blame the "present generations" for the sins of the past. So, Modern Australian culture: That was 2009. In the video you can hear the (fairly young) audience booing when Harry Connick Jr points out that it's utterly unacceptable. No-one else seemed to care. Whoops, it's still going on in 2016: Nation Somehow Still Needs To Be Told Blackface Is Racist Sickening really. 6 hours ago, Dee Man said: Give up while you're behind, Milton. There are few things sadder than when you join a forum and you find people obsessing about some critical thing that happened on said forum in the past. Now I'm sure whatever arguments you had with Supras were really important, and I'm sure you came out of them really really well, but I ain't him and this schtick makes you look infantile. Sorry to spoil your "long held suspicions" that I'm your old adversary or whatever, but it's nice that you've been quietly following my posts and thinking about it (If any mod or another can put poor Dee Man's mind at rest, please carry on). Now, stop deflecting, stop being dishonest and tell me where I backtracked. The posts are, as you say, up there for all to see. Quote me the bits where I backtracked on anything. Ta. How did I put together that you've been obsessing about some old "internet rival" from what you've said so far?? It's not like you gave me any hints by saying that you had long-held suspicions about me or anything. Like I said earlier, whatever you've built it up to have been in your head is meaningless (and pretty cringey) to me. Probably to him too. I don't know (or care about) Supras. If this exchange counts for anything he could be a hero or a mammoth cockend and the common ground with me would be finding you witless and tiresome. Anyway, that aside, I can see that you'd desperately prefer to discuss some other poster than be honest and admit you were talking shite about me backtracking. That's cool.
