Was told at the weekend Duns may not be participating in this cup?  Can anyone confirm?

I've read their website, and see they won't.  Shame, I was looking forward to a trip.

No surprise results today - as every LL side won through, EK prevailed by odd goal at CSS and LTHV comfortably dispatched Ormiston.

Narrow wins for Cumbernauld and Edinburgh Uni and Burntisland's woes continued.

Heriot-Watt University 2-4 BSC Glasgow
Gala Fairydean Rovers
4-1 Heston Rovers
Burntisland Shipyard 1-6 Glasgow University
Civil Service Strollers 1-2
East Kilbride
Vale of Leithen
 6-0 Creetown
Preston Athletic 7-1 Tweedmouth Rangers
Peebles Rovers 1-2 Edinburgh University
Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale 11-0 Ormiston (eleven-nil)
Cumbernauld Colts 1-0 St Cuthbert Wanderers

That makes R2 draw:

Hawick Royal Albert v Cumbernauld Colts
Abbey Vale v
BSC Glasgow
Spartans
v Lochar Thistle
Newton Stewart bye - Duns folded
Mid Annandale v
East Stirlingshire
East Kilbride v Gala Fairydean Rovers
Eyemouth United v Tynecastle
Nithsdale Wanderers v Threave Rovers
Dalbeattie Star v Wigtown & Bladnoch
Upper Annandale v Whitehill Welfare
Glasgow University v Dumfries YMCA
Coldstream v Leith Athletic
Lochmaben v Edusport Academy
Gretna 2008 v Vale of Leithen
University of Stirling v
Edinburgh University
Preston Athletic
v Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale

Dalbeattie v Wigtown looks the most interesting of the inter-league ties - plus Preston v LTHV in terms of a possible lower-level shock. It will be interesting to see how the Annandales get on.

University derby always has a bit of spice - and I notice they play in LL the week before.

Indeed Edinburgh Uni's next 4 games are:

Sat 25 Sep - Whitehill (H) - Scottish Cup
Sat 01 Oct - Whitehill (H)
Tue 04 Oct - East Kilbride (H)
Sat 08 Oct - Stirling Uni (A)
Sat 15 Oct - Stirling Uni (A) - South Challenge Cup

so a "familiar" month for them.

Glasgow Uni v Dumfries YMCA gives an unfancied minnow an opportunity to reach the Last 16.

Such a great competition with teams from across the leagues.

Took in the Preston v Lothian THV game today - very lacklustre performance from Hutchie Vale, and infact were pretty dire in the second half.

Back to the competition at large though and the bigger Lowland teams like East Kilbride, Spartans, East Sirlingshire, Cumbernauld and reigning champions Whitehill Welfare will all fancy their chances.  Plus big non-Lowland clubs like Leith Ath, Lothian THV and even Wigtown & Bladnoch will be out to prove they can win it as an outsider, if they can even be referred to as that.

Anyone know when the draw is?

No sure bud but when they do it they might draw the rounds right up to the final.

That might be done from the last 8 though.

Excellent, will look out for it.  Always look for the Welfare result first when checking the Lowland scores but haven't been to see them since last season.

Re your previous post, yeah an away tie at Abbey Vale would be good as its different, and winnable, although they got a great result today at home to BSC.

From memory its a quaint wee place in the middle of nowhere with the ground being at the back of a primary school.  You'll end up with an away tie at EK now!!! :-P

Ha ha aye I know I picked them because I thought they were from Dumfries and it's probably the most suitable and winnable tie for me from Newcastle so it was purely selfish reasons :D

Didn't realise it's in middle of nowhere.
