Looks like it's a straight fight between us and Ukraine for 11th and a CL GS place for 2022-23. Turkey are 2.5 wins behind and unless Sivasspor win their final game, both their teams will go out.

Ukraine are basically level with us and could have two teams in the knockout stage, or could end up with none. Worst case scenario is if Shakhtar go through in the CL they'll go two wins ahead of us.

Rangers need to match Benfica's result to be seeded in the last 32. The only positive for Celtic in the last game is that it's at home and Lille have already qualified, but they'll want to get top spot.

Only chance we have of 11th is if Shakhtar don't get to the last 16 of the CL and Rangers pick a decent amount of further points.

Aye this season might be a season too early for Scotland.

Next season though, we're in a very good place. Russia are dropping like a stone.

Their group is so open that they could finish in one of four positions - hopefully Madrid and Inter win so they go out. If they were to finish 3rd and go into the EL last 32 they could easily make up the 5 CL bonus points lost, plus they got to the semi-finals last season.

I reckon Rangers only need to match Benfica's result next week to win the group. They are ahead on head to head by means of away goals. 3-3 draw in Portugal and 2-2 draw at Ibrox.

Europa League Group Stage.

UEFA rightly value winning a trophy over finishing 3rd.

Look at the situation in England where finishing 4th is celebrated by fans, or for some teams finishing 17th is a great achievement . They actively aim to get knocked out of cups. Bournemouth , what did they achieve in 5 years in the Premier league. Did they even make a semi final in 10 attempts while a top level team?

The made the quarters of the League Cup twice and never got further than the 5th round of the FA Cup. They only beat one top-flight club - Brighton at home in the League Cup, after extra time - and usually went out to lower league opposition like Burton.

The money guys might care most about finishing 17th year after year but IMO fans prefer glory to consistency. Of course, for a club the size of Bournemouth, getting promoted was the most glory they'll ever really hope for.

fans who celebrate 17th in the premier league  over cup wins, will point you in the direction of Wigan.

I don't know the exact figures but winning the league cup is worth about £2m where as finishing 17th gets you £30m-£40m. It's a sad place but this is modern football in England. If I supported a yo-yo team I would rather be a Swansea, Portsmouth or Wigan fan and remember my teams cup victory than a Norwich or Bournemouth fan and not even have tried to win something.

Winning the SPFL gets you about £3m but qualifying for the CL groups gets you £30m. In a hypothetical question if Scotland had 2 teams in the CL (which may happen soon) would a chairman accept finishing 2nd but getting group stage CL football or win the league and get knocked out in the qualifiers (10iar seasons aside)?

We're back in 11th, one win ahead of Ukraine - but they have two clubs (seeded/unseeded) in the round of 32 compared up against Rangers. Monday's draw will be all important to see who all three get - I'd say Rangers only really have RB Salzburg to fear from the unseeded clubs. Shakhtar also looked decent in the CL so they are likely to be confident of going through.

Young Boys
Molde
Slavia
Granada
Real Sociedad
Braga
Lille
M Tel-Aviv
Antwerp
Wolfsberg
Crvena zvezda
Krasnodar
Salzburg

Scottish football would be in the absolute gutter if it wasn't for Sevco this year

We would still be in 13th place even without Sevco's contribution this year.

Edit: this would be a good draw only if the Lille that beat AC Milan turned up... https://draw.inker.one/#/el/ko/2020
