You would think how small of a country and league we are that others would celebrate such a victory. Only in Scotland will you get so much bitterness towards a team just to spite their selfs.

It's not spite.

It's hatred of the sectarianism that's a stain on the face of the entire country. And in the context of European football, it's more cash going to two clubs that sucks the life out of our game, making it a waste of time for everyone else.

We'd be a much better society if the pair of them vanished forever.

Had it been any club apart from Rangers and Celtic, I think a victory like that would be met with universal praise - even by bitter rivals of that club.

Does it really matter where Scotland sits? Just means the gruesome twosome get even more money if we move up?

It helps 3rd to 5th in the Premiership. 3rd place only needs to win 1 single tie to get into European group stage.

That means pretty much hee haw if the financial gap between Bigots FCs and the rest continues to grow.

I thought they’d go into the 3rd qualifying round which would still mean winning that and the first round to go into the group stages?

Given that would likely involve having to beat teams dropping out of the champions league or just much higher seeded it would still be of little benefit to most teams in Scotland besides the season starting a little later.

3rd/CW would go into EL Q3, then either EL PO or ECL PO depending on whether they win or lose, so one tie from the Conference League group stage. Also a chance that 13th's 3rd/CW could be bumped up to EL PO - which would guarantee a place in the ECL GS - if the EL title holder spot is vacated.

Ah I thought they were only talking about the Europa league group stages. Still have to play two rounds either way and I’m sure the money for the vanarama trophy group stages will be even more pitiful by comparison than even the europa league is.

Yeah I just meant one tie to win for any group stage football. The conference league will be interesting to see the difficulty of the qualifiers.
